"Upwork talent specialist" invitations? Can you opt out of them?

Got a strange invitation today:

"I'm a Talent Specialist from Upwork. I’m here to connect you with high-value clients so that you can spend less time submitting proposals and more time doing meaningful work. I thought this job post, **Edited for Community Guidelines**, might be a great fit for you because your background and skills appear to match this job’s requirements. Submitting a proposal for this job costs 0 connects.

...

**Edited for Community Guidelines**Upwork Talent Specialist"

Is it a genuine feature of Upwork? Even if so, can I opt out of it? It is useless to me as I have my own script monitoring RSS feeds for keywords and jobs.

It is genuine. I think you can opt out, but not sure how.

Hi Egor,

You can opt out of this program by opening this Guide and filling out the form under the section "I would like to find my own jobs, can I opt out?". Thank you.

Thank you, Goran. The opt out link requires me to log into Google docs, but I do not have a Google account. Please advise.

Hi Egor,

Our team has processed this from our end directly, however, please keep in mind that it can take up to 24 hours for everything to be updated accordingly. Thank you.

I just read through the guide to stay updated. Thank you for this information.

Quick question: The guide doesn't mention if a freelancer wants to opt back into the program. Does Upwork have an opt-in feature should a freelancer change their mind?

Why isn't this just a setting in the account setup?? Currently it is far too difficult to opt out. And I am not talking about actually doing it, I'm talking about figuring out how to do it. You have to spend time googling stuff just to figure it out.

Hi Woodrow and John,

Thanks for your feedback. I have shared it with our team.

While we don't have a form for opting back in, we'd be happy to forward such a request to the team. A user can either contact our support team or let us know here in the Community.

You might want to have your team add that detail into the Guide. That is an essential piece of information you don't want to leave out.

For me, I opted out long ago, and that arrangement works perfectly for my business model.

Hello Woodrow,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. I'll pass this along to the appropriate team.

Thank you.

Pradeep
