starting my hourly contract

Hi,

I just got my first hourly contract. I am working on a  PC home computer.

Is the area circled in red where i start to time my hours??  ( see attached image)

or

becasue the client said manual hours are allowed.

Do I still not need to time my hours?

Hi Bettina,

The button you are referring to will give you an option to add manual time. However, please keep in mind that manual time is not protected under our hourly payment protection program.

As you were hired for an hourly contract, I suggest that you use the Upwork Desktop App to track the time you spent working on the contract. When tracking is on, Upwork Desktop App takes snapshots one every 10 minutes at a random moment. That allows clients to make sure that they are billed for the time spent working on the project they hired the freelancer for. Additionally, it assures that the freelancer is paid for the time worked. Please refer to this help article for more information on how you can install the app and this one on how to track time.
