Denzel, yes this is a scam.
There is no money for you from this.
You could get punished from Upwork for participating in something like this.

Stop now, every Capcha job is a scam. A brief read of forum posts (and common sense) would tell you this Man SadMan SadMan SadMan SadMan Sad

P.S Man Sad

Cat Frustrated

tnx

But you know performing this task allows people to post spammy/malicious content on innocent people's websites. You should have thought about this before accepting the job Man Sad

I have no emoticons to convey my disappointment Robot Mad

Also, you've just shown that you were working outside the platform, it's entirely possible that you'll be kicked off for this.

LOL.
"We can pay via: PayPal/MoneyBookers/Odesk.com/Freelancer.com/Payza/Payoneer MasterCard/perfectmoney/webmoney/western union."

The scammers need to update their lie about how they "pay" you... It still says "Odesk" instead of "Upwork."

Come on, you lazy scammers... Get with the program.

By the way, they may as well offer to pay you with magic pixie dust, because they don't actually pay you.

re: "they may as well offer to pay you with magic pixie dust"

For the record, I am NOT demanding that Upwork add magic pixie dust as a payment withdrawal method. But if they add it, this is the option I will choose.

Preston...how about a wishing well? or the 'Good luck' potion (Harry Potter, anyone?) ๐Ÿ˜„

I wasted my 1 week performing this kinda job.

Denzel, please don't look on that time as a total waste. You learned a valuable lesson. This will never happen to you again.

And if it makes you feel any better, literally THOUSANDS of new contractors on Upwork have done the same thing you did.

For the record, we always tell newbies they could be suspended for this, but in practice Upwork is not likely to do that. You have already been punished by spending the time and not getting paid.

Upwork is embarrassed about how often this happens. They blame the scammers more than they blame the contractors who fall prey to this scam. Unfortunately, the scam is a clever one and difficult to eradicate.

Just out of interest, did the job post mention 'digitizing old books', or have they changed it?

I'm pretty sure digitizing old books is still around. I see it sometimes. But I have seen newbies mention other fake hooks as well.
