upwork time tracker gives error SOMETHING WENT WRONG on ubuntu 16.04 with latest 5.5.0 version

I installed Upwork desktop app version 5.5.0 on my ubuntu 16.04. It installs but when I try to log in, I keep getting an error, "Something Went Wrong". Please help as I am not able to track time with the app.
