xxyy does not currently have access to Upwork and will not receive messages until access is restored

Hello!

So, I'm quite new to this platfrom. Few days back, one client responded to the proposal sent and asked me to write a sample before sending the offer. I submitted the document and he really liked my work. But this morning I saw this message -  'xxyyy does not currently have access to Upwork and will not receive messages until access is restored'. Is it something I should worry about?

Regards,

Nivil

Hi Nivil,

It's very likely that the Client's account was actioned on based on a violation of the Upwork Terms of Service.

I would also like to note that requesting for free test work is not allowed on Upwork. Moving forward, I recommend that you flag clients who request for free test work by flagging their job posts as inappropriate.

You may want to read these tips for avoiding questionable jobs for more information about working safely on Upwork.

I have received 3 different messages from potential clients and when I go to respond to them this message will pop up: "xxxx xxxxx does not currently have access to Upwork and will not receive messages until access is restored."

What should I do in this case? Should I respond? Should I report them? And are you compensated for the connects used?

Hi Nto,

This means that the clients' accounts were put on hold for a violation of the Upwork User Agreement. In this case, you will not be able to respond to any of their messages on Upwork until their access to their Upwork account has been restored.

If their job posts were closed for a violation of the Upwork User Agreement, the Connects used for these job posts will be automatically returned to your account. You may access this page in your account for more information about your Connects History.
