Abhinav,
1) How frequently should we update the profile description?
You should update your profile description when needed; there is no specific timeframe. If you upskill and wish to showcase your skills and/or need to correct errors, you should make updates.
2) How can we track whether each update improves or reduces profile visibility?
Upwork has no data points to track this. If you make an update and your profile views increase or your invitations increase, it could be due to updates. But there is no surefire way to pinpoint why a profile's visibility increases or decreases. Profiles are not stationary in search results and clients can customize their own searches, and there are several more factors that can determine visibility.
3) Why do my proposals get good visibility some months but not others?
All proposals are subject to an algorithm that determines how and where they rank. The visibility of your proposal often depends on how many proposals the client receives and how closely yours aligns with the job requirements.
Overall, your profile looks good. There are a few things I would do to optimize it though:
Hourly Rate: I recommend using an even number hourly rate that ends in .00. Round numbers are usually perceived as clearer and easily understandable by consumers/clients. I believe $17.00/hr will be more appealing to clients, and recognized as more trustworthy.
Overview/Summary: Remove the first line: "Senior Full Stack WordPress Developer." It doesn't align with your title and it wastes space. When clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-225 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want clients to see their goals (your services and results) in this small space--not unnecessary titles.
Also, the long list of keywords at the end of your summary are unnecessary; it won't improve your SEO or increase your profile ranking in Upwork search results, and it makes your summary much longer than it has to be.
