Reed,

Most of your profile looks good, but I don't think your overview/summary has enough information to convince clients to hire you. There are thousands of web application experts on Upwork and clients will find they all have similar skill sets. The question is, do clients have enough good reasons to choose Reed? The information you provide can help them better understand why they should hire you and how it will benefit them.

For example, I would go much further to help clients understand what they're getting (beyond skills and services):

  • Tell clients how you communicate and gather feedback to ensure the final deliverables meet their needs.
  • Mention that you stay informed of the latest developments and trends in web security, AI, and data engineering.
  • Also talk about how you can uphold ethical standards and protect proprietary data/information while providing services.
  • Since your work often consists of a project with a start and finish, mention your time management and organizational skills.
  • Can you highlight any similar web app security projects you have worked on and your accomplishments?
  • Talk about your ability to meet business challenges and adapt to changing or new requirements if necessary.

Competition is rough on Upwork. If you give clients more reasons to choose you, it will increase your value to them.

Other suggestions:

1) I recommend removing the greeting and your name from the beginning of your summary: "Hello! I'm Reed Jones."  Why? Because when clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-225 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want clients to see their goals (i.e., your services and results) in this small space--not greetings and names. Clients can already see your name displayed on your profile.

2) Since Upwork uses the skill categories in our skills list to match us with relevant jobs, I recommend adding Website Security or Applicaion Security to your skills list. We are allowed only 15 skills, so you will have to remove one or two to add these. I think both are highly relevant to your services, and adding them will also help your profile appear in search results when clients search for those skills.

Everything else looks good.

Good luck!
