New profile feedback

Hello Upwork Community,

 

I just joined Upwork as a Brand & Marketing Consultant, and as a new member eager to establish myself on the platform, I recognize the importance of having a strong profile.

 

I'm still in the process of raising awareness and gaining new leads, any feedback or suggestions you might have on my profile would be amazing.  Whether it's highlighting key strengths, refining my portfolio, or optimizing my bio, your insights would be incredibly valuable to me.

Marina,

You've done a great job, but I have some thoughts that might help.

 

Here's what I look for. 1. Establish your expertise right away. 2. Be friendly. 3. Be confident. 4. Differentiate yourself from the pack.

 

That said, one thing, oddly, is you've done too good a job. While everything is very clear and deliberate, it comes across as a bit heavy-handed. You say you mine for a "deep understanding of clients' needs," for example and you are here to "break the barriers," of consumer resistance. I understand the message, but it sounds a bit intimidating. You have great writing skills. Maybe you can find a way to tone it down a bit.

You don't have to change those phrases or force the issue. A little friendlier, but no pandering. 

 

Also, your working title is "Brand And Marketing Consultant / Brand Marketing Strategy." That should be short and sweet and your last three words are redudant. I recommend "Expert Marketing Consultant." or "Brand and Marketing Expert."

 

Once you say you're an expert, you need to back that up. I recommend "adding something about your schooling in the openinng. "With over a decade of experience crafting impactful strategies that drive business growth and a four-year degree from ____________, I offer comprehensive marketing solutions tailored to your specific needs."

 

When I see a phrase like "working collaboratively with brand leaders," I always want a specific explanation. What do you actually do?  Do you hold Zoom conferences? Do you survey industries or do reseaerch? Do you call people on the phone? Do you write letters? Do you consult with other marketers? Do you go visit the companies and hold  meetings?

 

The idea here is that people like to know where their money is going. What are they actually paying  you for? The other thing is that professionals have professional-sounding systems and techniques. This is the time to sell your system. 

 

How do you measure success? That's another thing you might add. I would steer away from "I guarantee increased sales," but some reference to results can help push your candidacy. "Previous clients have seen improved sales ..." However you want to say it, a reference to results clients can expect might be helpful.

 

All that said, you clearly sound very professional to me. I hope this helps.
