PROFILE FEEDBACK NEEDED

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to learn about this board where experienced freelancers can help others to enhance their profiles. I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on how I can make my profile more engaging.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Sophia

Hi Sophia,

I think you can make your profile more engaging by doing the following:

1) Remove this: "Welcome to my world. I am Sophia,"  from the beginning of your overview/summary. It's only a few characters, but every character counts.

When clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-225 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want clients to see their goals (your services and results) in this small space--not greetings and names. Greetings or unnecessary words leaves less space for more important words.

2) Your first paragraph will be more appealing if you keep the focus on your services and helping clients. For example:

I'm an Intellectual Property (IP) paralegal (Mandarin/Putonghua/Chinese and English speaking) and translator with a decade of expertise. I support attorneys across various industries in managing and protecting intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, and translating documentation and media.

My IP services include:

...

My translation services include:

...

Also, clients like to hear success stories. If you can highlight any patent/trademark projects you have worked on and your accomplishments, it will help clients feel more comfortable about hiring you.

3) Most of your skills list looks good, but two important skills are missing: English to Chinese Translation and Chinese to English Translation. We are only allowed 15 skill categories, so you will have to remove two to add these.

4) If possible, you may want to get one or two testimonials from previous clients or employers.

Your portfolio, project catalog, certifications, and employment history look great.

Good luck!
