Profile Review

Hello,

I’m a new freelancer on the platform, submitting proposals regularly, but I haven’t landed any jobs yet. I’d really appreciate feedback on my profile to understand if there’s anything that might be deterring clients or keeping my proposals from standing out. What can I do to make my profile more appealing to clients and increase my chances of getting hired?"

Hello Viet Anh,

I don't think you have enough substance in your profile to convince clients to hire you. Clients come to Upwork with specific needs and they look for freelancers who can meet those needs and get results. Your profile must help clients understand why you're the best freelancer to get results.

Here is what I would do to improve your profile to make it more appealing:

1) Correct the spelling of your title; it should be Graphic Desinger Designer / Video Editor

2) Remove the following from your overview/summary:

"Hello and welcome to my profile! I'm Viet Anh you can call me Vanh."

Why? Because when clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-225 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want clients to see their goals (your services and results) in this small space--not greetings and names.

Next, add more information to help clients understand the value in hiring you. There are thousands of graphic designers and video editors on Upwork, so you must find ways to distinguish yourself. For example:

  • Tell clients how you communicate and gather feedback during a project to ensure the final product meets their needs.
  • Do you provide unlimited revisions? Do you offer follow-up support after a design is completed?
  • Since designs and video edits are projects, mention your time management and organizational skills, and your availability.
  • What software applications do you use? (e.g., Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/Premiere Pro, Canva, CorelDRAW, etc.)
  • Can you highlight any design or video editing projects you have worked on and your accomplishments?
  • Talk about your ability to meet business challenges and adapt to changing or new requirements if necessary.

Clients are looking for reasons to choose you and the information you provide can help them better understand why they should hire you and how it will benefit them.

3) Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork. Upwork uses keywords in job titles and descriptions to match you with relevant jobs.

4) You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking 10 to 30 days to complete. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.
