Hello Silvana Patricia,
The first thing you should do is write your profile in English; you will get more attention from clients with a profile written in English.
Here are my suggestions for improving your profile:
1) You have good background information in your profile overview/summary, but you must tell clients about the services you provide. Your summary sounds like an employee looking for a job with an employer. Most clients on Upwork are looking to hire you as a freelancer. This means, clients expect you to have the skills and expertise to provide services, and you charge them for your services.
Use your summary to explain the services you provide as a microbiologist and bioanalyst; your experience with clinical lab work; the benefits of your microbiology and bioanalysis services; and why clients should hire you to provide microbiology and bioanalysis services. For example, clients expect a summary to start like this:
As a microbiologist and bioanalyst, I have experience in various areas of the clinical laboratory. I conduct research to understand the structure, function, and behavior of microorganisms; study pathogens; develop antibiotics, track and analyze disease outbreaks; and provide teaching and mentoring to students. I use my expertise to [build microbiology/bioanalysis courses; conduct medical research; develop vaccines; ensure that medical products and devices comply with regulatory standards; etc.] |
You can revise this as you see fit, but the idea is the same. Use your summary to tell clients about your services and how those services will be used to get results. Do not tell clients that you are actively seeking job opportunities. As a freelancer, you are the expert who is here to help clients--not the other way around.
2) Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients, and clients like visuals. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.
3) Add more relevant skill categories to your skills list. You should add categories like Microbiology, Biology, Clinical Trial, and any skills related to your work.
4) If you wish to provide other services like data entry or virtual assistance, you should create one or two Specialized Profiles. Your main profile should focus on your main skill set and services, and your specialized profiles should focus on other services, which may not be related to your main profile.
Your employment history looks great.
The most important thing to do is update your summary to help clients understand your services and how hiring you will benefit them.
Good luck!
