profile review request please

hi all , I am a new interior designer on upwork, I started my freelancing from last month and have sent 36 propsals,get 9views and 3 interviews , 0 contract. is that good or bad progress? what should I do next month ? 

 

I would greatly appreciate your feedback on my Upwork profile. Please look at my profile and suggest any improvements or optimizations that could enhance its appeal to potential clients.

Hi Jianbo,

 

Other freelancers cannot determine a good proposal to view ratio; this is different for all freelancers depending on skill area, experience, jobs available, and other factors. Many freelancers send dozens of proposals before winning their first job.

 

Here are my suggestions to improve your profile:

 

1) Remove this: "Hi, I'm Jianbo.Z, or call me Joe." from your overview/summary.

 

2) The following should not be in all caps: "CHINA NATIONAL INTERIOR DECORATION ASSOCIATION and CHINA BUILDING DECORATION ASSOCIATION." Instead, it should be: "China National Interior Decoration Association and China Building Decoration Association."

 

3) The rest of your summary is quite generic. There are thousands of interior designers here on Upwork, so clients need several reasons--beyond skills--to hire you. Your summary might sound better if your start like this:

 

I have 20 years of experience in architecture, interior/exterior design and landscaping, and I am licensed by the China National Interior Decoration Association and China Building Decoration Association.

 

Next, add more value to your summary with things like:

 

  • Tell clients how you communicate during a project to gather feedback to ensure the final product meets their needs.
  • Which software applications and tools do you use? (e.g., AutoCAD, Blender, SketchUp, etc.)
  • Do you provide unlimited revisions? Do you offer follow-up support after a design is delivered?
  • Since a design is a project, mention your time management and organizational skills.
  • Can you highlight any interior design projects you have worked on and your accomplishments?
  • Talk about your ability to meet business challenges and adapt to changing or new requirements if necessary.

 

Clients are looking for reasons to choose you and the information you provide can help them better understand why they should hire you and how it will benefit them.

 

4) You are missing important skill categories in your skills list. Your list should include categories like Autodesk AutoCAD, Architectural Design, 3D Modeling and other categories related to your work. Upwork uses these skill categories to match you with relevant jobs, and to help your profile appear in search results when clients search for those skills.

 

5) Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork. Upwork uses keywords in job titles and descriptions to match you with relevant jobs.

 

You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking 10 to 30 days to complete. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.
