Accepted Account Email Address Format

Hi, 

In trying to create an account at Upwork, I repeatedly get a error message that says something went wrong, but does not specify what. I suspect the sign-up process doesn't like my email address, which has a .io TLD. On a whim, I tried signing up with my personal gmail address instead and it worked perfectly.

I've occassionally run into services that haven't updated their email form validation to allow newer TLDs. Could someone check whether that's the case here? Would some.name@example.io work as an email address when registering?

Hi Trevor, 

This error usually happens when the systems finds an email address that has already been used on an old Upwork account that was previously closed. You can send me the email address you used through a private message and I could look into this for you. 

UPDATE: Hi Trevor, I'm not sure if you're going to get this but I've just reinstated the old account for you. Hopefully you can respond to this message!
