Account Suspended - No spelling errors

My account was suspended for having grammar/spelling errors.

There are no spelling errors, only words like Atlassian, which the system doesn't recognize. Which is a company.....

There's no one to contact about this and you cant reply to the notification. Horrible support on this website considering they suspend your account for every small detail.

You can get suspended for spelling and grammar?? Really??

Something that hasn't even been approved cannot get suspended.

"Hi Jenna,

Thanks for filling out your profile! Unfortunately, during our review, we found a few areas for improvement that will help you stand out to clients. In order for your profile to be published on Upwork, you must make the following revisions and re-submit your profile for review. Once approved, youโ€™re ready to start connecting with clients!

  • Please revise your profile for grammatical and spelling errors. "

Then it said my account was suspended on the homepage. It's gone now that I just submitted a new profile. Waiting for a response.

lol this was my thought. You're not approved how are you suspended? LOL

If they suspended for grammar and spelling mistakes, they'd have like 3 freelancers left.

I mean... you say that like I'm lying. "Please revise your profile for grammatical and spelling errors. " was the email I recieved. My profile was approved then suspended within minutes.

I just wish they would point out the error if they found one.

That indicates the approver hit the wrong button and correct her/his mistake. Makes sense, yes?

Your title is misspelled.

"Fairness is giving all people the treatment they earn and deserve. It doesn't mean treating everyone alike-Coach John Wooden"

Ahh. Missed that one. Thanks.

Still very annoying that you now have to wait hours to see if it's approved. I've been trying to create my profile for 3 days now. It's always something ridiculous that they won't approve it for.

re: "You can get suspended for spelling and grammar?? Really??"

Jeff:

The answer is "yes" and "no."

You are thinking of a particular meaning of the word "suspended."

Using that meaning, Jenna was NOT actually suspended for a spelling error.

What actually happened is that there are problems with Jenna's profile and before she was ever allowed into the active pool of freelancers, a request was made that her account be approved.

Actually, spelling errors are only one issue. There are other serious problems that should be fixed on her profile page before it is approved for the first time.

Keep in mind that many messages Upwork user receive are generated by automated algorithms, or the messages are pre-written messages sent as a result of semi-automated or manual processes triggered by Upwork associates.

It is not always necessary to interpret these messages literally.

My recommendation to Jenna would be to spend some more time studying good profile pages and fix the problems in own profile before resubmitting it for review.

For example, Jenna's profile presents her as a voice-over artist and a project manager. This doesn't violate Upwork rules. But it weakens the effectiveness of her fledgeling profile page. She should pick one job skill and eliminate all references to the other.

Why is that the case if I have experience with both? And why would it even let me do that if that's a suspendable offense?

re: "Why is that the case if I have experience with both? And why would it even let me do that if that's a suspendable offense?"

Jenna:
This is absolutely not a "suspendable offense."

Upwork has approved your profile. Congratulations.

My ADVICE to you, in order to maximize your earnings potential, is to get rid of everything relating to voice-over work and re-write your profile page so that it focuses on project management.

Do this in order to earn more money. Not because you are violating any rules (you're not).

If it's not a suspendable offense than why did I recieve an email saying the issue was "Please revise your profile for grammatical and spelling errors. " and to re submit my profile. Then my homepage saying my account was suspended until the issue was fixed?

Not sure why people on here assume I'm lying about this. Thankd for the advice, but for right now I just want it fixed.

Jenna, you write "I would be happy to assist you in any of the skills I may have" - don't you know which skills you have & want to utilize?

You talk about your degree and then say that you don't want that to be your primary skill on Upwork.

Well, you have tell clients what you can do for them. Not let them figure out what you might be good at.

That's not spelling or grammar..... People need to stop attacking the content when that's not this problem here. If that's something I won't get hired for, then I'll learn that when I start using the site, which I can't do right now.....

My profile was approved. Then suspended like 5 mins later.

The acceptance and suspended emails came almost at the same time.

That's strange u can't have two talents.

re: "That's strange u can't have two talents."

Lots of people have more than one talent.

When an Upwork freelancer is starting out, my advice to them is to focus their profile on a single job skill, in order to increase their chance at getting hired.

What is that supposed to mean? Of course you can have two talents - you can have more than two talents . . .

Hi Jenna,

I'd like to clarify that your profile wasn't suspended. It was put on hold because it required changes. As Katrina pointed out there were spelling errors in your profile title. I see you have corrected the errors already and resubmitted your profile for a review. Please, allow 12 hours for your profile to be reviewed again. Meanwhile, you can continue working on your profile and add more information about your employment, other experience as well as some portfolio items and tests.

Please, see this help article for more information about completing your profile.

Wow. Thank you for the helpful information. I kind of feel attacked for no reason.

I used the word suspended, because it said "suspended" in the green box when I logged on and viewed my profile. Not sure why, but it said that.

I have fixed the error in my title and hopefully the problem will be solved through that. Thanks for the help!

Don't feel attacked. It's not meant that way.  Funny story, one time I was interviewing for a project and the client pointed out a spelling error in my overview.  Ironically it was the word "accuracy" lolol.  I still got the project and she found it funny, but still I was a little embarrassed about it.

"Fairness is giving all people the treatment they earn and deserve. It doesn't mean treating everyone alike-Coach John Wooden"

If it does say "suspended" when it should say "on hold", Upwork should change the wording to avoid confusion.

It wouldn't be the first time that UW's choice of words is off / inaccurate.

Sorry Jenna.

If Jenna is still reading these posts, there's still one grammatical error in her profile. Where it says,

"elimination any blockers that disrupt the continuation of work."

it should say,

"eliminating any blockers that disrupt the continuation of work."
