I try to add Paypal as a payment method.
My PayPal's email is different compared to my contact info's email.
System alerted me then.
So, I try to change my contact info's email to match Paypal's email.
Suprisingly, system alerted me that the email was used.
[In fact, it was used by me when I send $10 as payment to upwork]
Please fix this as I think this is a bug. The email was used by me and not other people.
I bill using **Edited for Community Guidelines**
I try to receive money using it.
System disallows as my contact info's email is **Edited for Community Guidelines**.
Then I try to change my contact info's email to **Edited for Community Guidelines**.
System disallow as it detects there is an existing email tie with **Edited for Community Guidelines** (Which I think is my billing account)
I checked and can confirm the message you're getting is by design and expected, since your client account is registered with the email address in question. Since the accounts are separate, you won't be able to set the new email address to your Freelancer account, unless you update the email address your Client account is registered with first, and contact Customer Support to release the email.
I am a programmer.
So I know your statement that
"As my email was tied with client record, hence I am unable to set another email for PayPal"
sounds to me a bit incorrect.
I think this is a programming scenario that is not catered by the programmer.
It is possible that a person receives Upwork messages from email A and has another Paypal account which is tied with email B
Don't you think so?
According to Upwork ToS, a user can only have one account on Upwork and can't create duplicate account. Freelancer and client accounts can be added under the same log in. That's why the system doesn't allow using the same email in two different accounts by design. Please, note that you can update your PayPal email address to match the email address you have on your Upwork account.
