Building translations portfolio

Hi!

Where can I find copyright free text to translate? I need to build a portfolio and the only samples I have so far are translations of original content from my personal blog and one academic paper I did. I have asked for permissions to use some interesting publications I found on the internet but never received a response.

By the way, I would appreciate if you can give me some feedback on my profile.

You have many options.

You may write things yourself and then translate them.

You may hire people to write things for you, and then translate them.

You may ask friends or family members to write things for you, and then translate them.

You may ask friends or family members to give you things they have already written, and then translate them.

You may find things you are interested in translating, and then simply ask the copyright holders for permission to translate the work (offer then the translation) and permission to post the source and translation in your portfolio.

You may ask your friends to have a conversation and record it, and then you can transcribe and translate it.

You may translate anything that is in the public domain, and then you may post the source and translation in your portfolio. LOTS of great stuff is free to use and you don't need permission from anybody. For example, look at all the free-to-use stuff here: https://www.gutenberg.org/
