Buying connects via Paypal

I want to buy some connects via PayPal, but I have no credit/debit card. How can I go about it? I already have funds in my Paypal account.

Hi Mwangi,

Please note that only a verified PayPal account can be used as a billing method. To learn more about verifying and linking your PayPal account, click here.

You'll be able to select from an alternative billing method in your account payment options.

Thank you.

Hello!
I've cleared cache and everything and still doesn't work. I've also set on
Paypal my balance as main payment method but still.
I can only choose my credit card or add another debit/credit.
It does say thou "I understand that if I have a balance in my PayPal
account, it will be used to make the payment first and that if my preferred
payment method expires or is rejected, PayPal will charge my backup payment
method."
But this looks like a generic small print.
Thanks for the help

Hi Bruno,

Just to clarify, do you need help with connecting your PayPal as a billing method? It is always great if freelancers can check with their banks if their accounts are enabled for international charges.
If any help is needed, let me know. Thank you.

I have no problem connecting my PayPal account and my bank account has
nothing to do with this issue. I just can't set my Paypal money to buy
connects.
The only choice I have is Credit Card.
My Paypal account is verified, and my wallet is set to use account money as
main payment method.
Here are some screenshots. In the first you can the only choice is credit
card, the I click on CHANGE and the only choice is the same card, then I
click ADD and the only choice is to add another card, not a different
method.
Thanks.

Hi,

It's not an error, I'm telling you I have a PayPal account with funds and
want to purchase more connects, but there is no option to do this without a
PayPal Debit/Credit Card.
How can I continue to make this purchase without a card?

Thanks.

Hi Michkaela,

Unfortunately you won't be able to purchase Connects if your PayPal account is not verified and you don't have a card attached to your PayPal wallet.

To learn more about our available billing methods and how to add one, check out this Guide. Thank you.

Hi there.
Yes, in fact I didn't do anything really.
You need to set your balance as your main payment method in paypal. You
have to add a credit card anyway, just in case you run out of money.
So, when you choose to use paypal to buy connects in upwork, it will be
charged from your balance by default.
I know, it is not clear anywhere, but this is how it works.
Then, when you have some money on your upwork account, you can use it to
buy connects directly.
hope this is helpful
Cheers.

So, I do not have a credit card, nor a debt card, so I can not link a card to paypal.

I have been doing a couple online jobs off-site, and have earn a couple bucks, and I am looking to buy connects with that cash, now the problem is: Everytime I add a billing method, by linking it with my paypal account it is demanding me to provide a card information(Which I do not have), but my paypal account has money in the account, can someone help me add paypal as my billing method, and bypassing the card requirment.

If I said anything that confuses you, please ask away haha.

I have the same problem ,the best solution i can recommend is using cash in your upwork account to purchase the connects.paypal needs a credit card or debit card which accepts international tranfers check with local kenyan banks.Though i heard I&M bank card is the best with no issues.
