Hello Upworkers !
I am a newbie to upwork and I have submitted 19 proposals till date. It has been six days and I still didn't receive a single response from the client. I write compelling proposals and even came top 20% in the upwork tests.
Am I doing something wrong? If so,what can I do to further improve my profile and increase my chances of landing that first job?
And for you top rated freelancers, how long did it take to land your first job?
Thanks,
Arun.

A question for those who posted on this thread: what are you guys exactly trying to achieve here? This is an honest question.

Even, I'm confused, those are very silly mistakes, for that he doesn't needs to change his writing profession!
I don't understand, why some contributors discourage freelancers here!

I don't understand why some people encourage others to go ahead and deliver shoddy work and think they deserve to be paid for it.
If he doesn't take his profile serious, he won't take a project serious, either. I'd never hire him for writing. He's showing on his profile that he can't deliver professional work.

For your kind information, we're here to encourage freelancers, to improve their skills and also to improve their ability to understand how Upwork works and the mistakes you're referring to are not that big, that he has to end his Writing career.
So, I request all the members of the community to stop being amateur, help and advice in a positive way... NOBODY WAS BORN WITH THE SKILLS, EVERYBODY IMPROVED GRADUALLY WITH THE TIME...

You're correct that nobody was born with skills and everybody should be encouraged to improve. But the OP is already offering his skills and expecting to be paid - he's not in a training programme here. If he wants to improve then it would be a better idea to post his work on forums for budding writers and invite criticism there, then improve his skills, and only THEN try to get paid work.
I don't think that it's kind to encourage people to waste their time and money bidding on projects when they are unlikely to succeed (but I do take your point about being kinder in general, and I admire your enthusiasm).

The OP asked why he wasn't getting responses to his proposals, and he received honest answers. What don't you understand?
