Can you increase your boost after you've already boosted a proposal?

I'm new here and if this has already been discussed I'm sorry but couldn't find an anwer. I was one of the very first to apply for a job that was perfect for me. I boosted to the maximum to get to the top. Within an hour there were 20-50 proposals and the client had not yet checked back in. I went back to my proposal and tried to boost it more but wasn't able to. In the end my proposal was out boosted and never even looked at. Dissapointing. Maybe I should wait longer before sending my proposal next time?

Thank you for reaching out to us. I would like to clarify that you’ll only be able to boost your proposal once for any particular job, even if you’re outbid. If you submit your proposal without boosting it, you won’t be able to boost it later. You may want to check this help article for more information.
