I have a client asking for my email address so that someone else in his company may contact me. Anyone have any insight into whether I should go ahead and do that?

You can do what you want. Upwork allows you to provide your email address, but you are not required to. Personally, I have earned a lot of money after providing my email address so that someone else in the company can contract me.
If you have any concerns about providing your email address, then simply provide a project-specific email address. Or an email address you only use for Upwork. You don't need to provide anyone with your prime email address. They don't know, and they don't care.
On June 26, it will no longer be allowed to provide your email address prior to being hired. But for now, it is fine.
