My client mistakenly ended the contract early. I had completed the assignment for him but had mistakenly not submitted for the milestone to be paid for. When I contacted him on the phone he was very apologetic and wanted to know what he could do to get me paid properly for the work I had done.
Any suggestions as to how he can restart the contract, or does he need to start up a new one?

I don't do many fixed price projects, but I think your client can pay you a "bonus" in the amount of money he still plans to pay you. Someone else on this board can confirm and tell you how that's done.
