Client ended contract early by mistake

My client mistakenly ended the contract early.  I had completed the assignment for him but had mistakenly not submitted for the milestone to be paid for.  When I contacted him on the phone he was very apologetic and wanted to know what he could do to get me paid properly for the work I had done.

Any suggestions as to how he can restart the contract, or does he need to start up a new one?

I don't do many fixed price projects, but I think your client can pay you a "bonus" in the amount of money he still plans to pay you. Someone else on this board can confirm and tell you how that's done.

He needs to start new contract but it is easy to do so as he can reuse old posting
While creating new job post.

For current payment:
As Will suggested , easiest is for client to give bonus and then you accept request for refund of escrow to client
