Client messed up on milestones

Don't close the contract, that will automatically refund what's in escrow and leave you with a no-pay contract.

 

You can request partial payment on the first milestone, any amount up to what's escrowed. 

 

BTW, the deadlines on milestones don't mean anything. (Unless it's an Enterprise client. In that case, the contract will automatically close 60 [?] days after the deadline of the last milestone that's been funded.)
