Client wants to contact them via Whatsapp

Hi Upwork,

I am new to Upwork.   If a new client wants me to contact them via Whatsapp. Shall I go ahead and contact them or not?

P.S. This is a new client, and there is no contract between me and client at this moment.

Hi Mayank,

It would be best to keep your communications with a client on the Upwork platform. However if you've been hired by the client and there is a need to communicate off the platform, that is fine to do and you wouldn't be violating any rules by doing so. Please note however, that accepting payment off the Upwork platform is a violation of our ToS. Please also make sure that you have  a contract on Upwork with a client before you begin doing any work, so that you can benefit from the work that you do being covered by Upwork's Payment Protection.
