Connects for a new user

I just made my upwork profile and started searching for projects. I found that I need connects to send proposals. Since I am new here, don't I get free connects? It mentioned in their policy that a new user will get 20 free connects.

I checked your account and can confirm that your account was registered years ago. This means that it doesn't qualify as a "new" account to avail of the 20 free connects for new freelancers. I apologise if this has caused any confusion on your end, and I hope this clarifies things.

Thank you for clarification. I just realised that I made my account before but never used it. I just updated my profile now and I thought I would get free connects. Anyway, thanks for the help.
