I have contracted a freelancer for a job. Will he email me to communicate?
Or do I need to login to my account regularly to see if he has left a message?
I gave him my email address to ask about time frames for the job but am unsure whether this is how we are meant to communicate.
Sorry, but I am new to Upwork and have never used it before.

Lyn:
Upwork places no restrictions on how you communicate with a freelancer.
You could use email. You could use Skype. GoToMeeting. Phone. Text messages. Snail mail. Slack. It's up to you and the freelancer.
You may set any sort of requirements that you want to. For example, you could require that a freelancer call you every day at 11:00 a.m.
On the other hand, a freelancer can have any set of rules for himself. For example, a freelancer might ONLY communicate through the Upwork Messages tool.
