I have accepted a job where I had to transfer crypto to the client and in return he made payment here on upwork. I would like to know if I did right thing or it's not allowed on upwork, if it's not allowed what is the best way to rectify my mistake?
For now the situation is that we have done successfully a $50 trade in which he has covered upwork fees as well. Everything is good. He is asking for another $200 contract, which I am afraid will lead to TOS violation. I asked him to hold on for future trades until I get an official reply from upwork's team.
Looking for guidance on this please. Thank you.

This is a scam, and this is a violation of Upwork's Terms of service. From past experiences we learned from other freelancers who did the same thing, you will probably not be paid for that $50 as the payment method of the client will be declined, and you also loose the money you spent to buy the crypto. Decline the second offer. Buying crypto that others could buy themselves for less is not a job.

I have declined actually and to be honest I am ok with losing the $50, I will take it as learnt the lesson hard way, I am just more worried about account suspension, as I could just complete 2 projects recently on my profile and I know how hard it is to get projects on a new profile in today's competition.

Working on projects that are a violation of Upwork Terms of Services won't count as a project since it will be deleted, and put your account at risk.

Siti,
You were really lucky. So far, the tuition for your lesson has been very cheap. People have posted about losing a lot more money to this type of scam. Even freelancers who aren't new to Upwork.

Scam. You will not get any money from them and have lost the money you spent. Curious, was crypto mentioned in the job post itself, or only after you applied did they bring that up?
