Earning Rising Talent badge and JSS Score

Hi Everyone,

I am Naveed Ishfaq. My Upwork profile has over $5k in earnings, and the last project I delivered was in December. I took a break from using this profile but am now actively bidding on projects again.

I am concerned about earning the Rising Talent badge and have a couple of questions:

1. Does completing just one big project contribute to earning the Rising Talent badge and displaying a JSS on my profile, or do I need to complete multiple projects?

2. I have a job in progress that has been ongoing for more than 90 days. Will its completion contribute to earning the Rising Talent badge and JSS score?

Thank you for your help!

Connection between Rising Talent and JSS:

  • While they're separate metrics, they're both important indicators of your success on Upwork.
  • You can earn the Rising Talent badge even if you haven't established a JSS yet (since it takes time to complete projects and receive client feedback). bazoocam
  • Once you have a JSS, however, it can indirectly affect your chances of getting the Rising Talent badge. Upwork might consider your overall performance when awarding the badge.

Hi Naveed,

Your JSS appears once you have two or more contract outcomes within 24 months and outcomes with two or more clients during your time on Upwork. Job Success Score is calculated once every two weeks on Sunday. Remember, most feedback is eligible, but at times outcomes won’t be counted because, for example, you asked the feedback to be removed or we determined the client violated our Terms of Service. You can find more information here

Regarding the Rising Talent badge. I would like to let you know that many factors contribute to a Rising Talent badge. This includes client feedback, the overall strength of your profile, prior experience and skills, your educational background, and the opportunities that are available in the market. Even professionals who have yet to complete any Upwork projects can become Rising Talent if they have certified skills that are in demand. Feel free to check this page for more information.

Hi Nikola,

Thank you for the detailed response.

I have more than two outcomes from the last 24 months, but I took a five-month break and am now actively bidding on projects every day. Is there any way to apply for the JSS calculation?

Additionally, how can I inspect the factors you mentioned to ensure I am not missing anything? I want to make sure I am fully leveraging my high-demand skills.

Thank you for your assistance.
