Elance to upwork proposal changes

Hey guys, 

I used to win jobs on elance very easily, I used formatting , created headings and wrote long proposals. 

On upwork however the proposals are displayed below profile, no formatting and looks like clients don't read long proposals.

So I haven't got any good jobs since I shifted to upwork, 

Is there any freelancer who can guide me about proposals, How you guys changed your strategy when you shifted to upwork from elance.
