Im having trouble figuring out what to do when a first-time freelancer performs poorly (only does the bare minimum). The project was to edit a 3,000 word piece. She only made a few edits on the first half of the piece. A 2/5 rating could ruin her prospects. But at the same time, I don't want her to perform poorly for others. I'm trying to understand what happened and am communicating with this freelancer. At this point, I don't need her to re-do the work, as I had to complete it anyway. Any feedback you can provide would be much appreciated, since I need to rate her before I end the contract.

Hi Sarena,
When you close the contract, you will have an opportunity of leaving public and private feedback for a freelancer. You will need to leave the freelancer a star rating and have the option of providing a description or account of your experience with the freelancer. An objective, fair, and respectful feedback is highly recommended.
