First transcribing gig on Upwork and first time, ever

Hi!

I just got my first transcribing gig on Upwork. It is my first gig, ever!

I've been told by the lady from the agency, that the rate is per audio hour.

She then gave me my ID and password to access her transcription system.

The agency has 5 stars. Nothing to worry about.

However, my questions are:

- how can I make sure they will pay me (I don't have a written contract) ?

- do I need to log my hours somewhere on Upwork?

- I am not to sure if I am understanding the ''the rate is per audio hour''

Have you accepted the job through Upwork? On the 'My Job's tab is it hourly or fixed price? You should only be tracking hourly jobs through the Upwork desktop tracker. This doesn't sound right...

I accepted it via a private message.

When I click on the ''My Jobs'' tab, I don't see anything...0 job.

The ad says the price is $40.00-$50.00 Hourly Range but, the in the description, it is specifically mentioned that the rate is per audio hour.

I just asked her why I did get a contract in ''mY Jobs''

Here is her answer:

''i can start a contact but can you wait to log hours until i give you the number of minutes you have work officially as the program records them i will keep you upto date on exactly how many minutes daley starting monday''

Hi Marianne,

I checked your account, and it looks like you do not have any active contracts yet. Please know that to have an active contract, the client will send you an offer and you have to accept that offer. Once you do, that's when you should start working on the project. You might want to check this post to help you get started on Upwork.

Now I am little at loss on how to use the app.

I uploaded it on my cellphone but, I have no clue how to use it as I will work on the agency's website (from my computer not my cell)

1) The freelancer guide says it takes a picture of you every 10 min. Am I really supposed to put my phone in front of me while working on my computer?

2) Do I need to do - or know - anything else?

You install Tracker on the computer you're working on, so you want to download tracker and run it while you're working. Make sure you add memos and read the payment protection information so you are covered.
