Hi, I'm new. I am looking at a job that has a fixed price of $135, but in the job description, they state they will pay 1.2 cents per word for an 11,000-word book. This is a big price difference. Is this the way it is normally done?

11,000 words at 1.2 cents/word is $132. Not a big difference from $135.
Clients are all over the map in terms of how they scope projects and the budget clues they offer in the job posts. Each FL has to decide what their time and expertise are worth, target clients who seem to be prepared to invest accordingly, and work out the details.

Thank you. I'll keep this in mind when responding to these kinds of jobs.
