Hello. I am new to Upwork and have a quick question. I am looking at a job that shows "fixed price". However, when I click on that particular job, it does not give a dollar amount. I am just curious how that works. Thank you!

Colleen:
Look over the job description and provide your own estimate about what you would charge to do the project.
This does not commit you to anything.
This is the beginning of a conversation.

re: "Thanks for the response. Being new to this, I don’t know what would be a good but fair amount. Do you have any tips on how to gauge an amount"
I will tell you what I personally do. (This is NOT an Upwork rule or anything.)
- Read the project description carefully. Calculate (in hours) realistically how long it will take to do the project.
- Multiply the number of hours by my posted hourly rate.
- Double that number.
For example:
"Task X" will take 3 hours to complete.
My hourly rate is $88/hr.
So my fixed-price quote is: 3 X 88 X 2 = $528
