Hello Nabeel,

I think your profile looks good. I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

My only suggestion is to remove Resume Design from your skills list and instead, add Graphic Design since it is more relevant to your profile.

What should I add or remove? Where did I go wrong? How to prepare a profile?

Hello Emre Can,

I looked through your profile and I think your overview/summary has a lot of good experience and background information. The problem is, clients are more interested in how you can help them. Clients expect to read about your skills and qualifications, but they really want to know how your skills/qualifications will benefit them.

In your first paragraph--especially within the first two sentences--you should tell prospective clients what you can do for them. In other words, tell them the kinds of cybersecurity measures you can employ that will help them. You say this a bit in your second paragraph, and the first paragraph in your summary should be similarly focused.

As most businesses and organizations are facing significant challenges in securing their information systems from rising cyber threats, tell clients more about how you can help by providing cybersecurity vulnerability assessment and management services. For example, in your third paragraph, instead of focusing on yourself, revise it to focus on meeting the client's needs:

I have studied cyber security best-practices since high school life and fully understand how to apply open source intelligence (OSINT) to analyze and resolve your cyber challenges. I can help you collect security threat and exposure information through Cyber Threat Intelligent (CTl) services, Vulnerability Management, and assess the reliability, validity and relevance of collected threat intelligence using MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain and other information security defense and intelligence frameworks.

The idea is to keep most of the focus on how you can help clients. When you do that, I think clients will have a better understanding of the services you offer and how you can help meet their needs or solve their problems.

Felix Nathaniel,

My view of your profile has not changed since earlier in the week.

You should add skill categories to each item in your portfolio, which will help position your profile in relevant searches.

Understood!

Hello Mohamed,

Your profile looks good. I have only two small suggestions:

Title: Capitalize the first letter of each word in your title to help it stand out a little better: Data Entry Specialist | Web Research | Data Scraping | Excel Expert.

Portfolio: You might want to add one or two more items to your portfolio.

The other areas of your profile look good. I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

Hello Willy,

Welcome to Upwork.

I think your profile is off to a good start. I have a few suggestions that might help improve it:

Title: Capitalize the first letter of each word to help your title stand out better: Full Stack Developer.

Overview/Summary: The best way to start your profile summary is to tell prospective clients exactly who you are and the services you provide. I suggest removing the following: "Qualitatively and on time - an unwavering principle that is more important than any money. About me: Hello! I'm Willy. Why? Because the first two sentences of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. You have minimal space to grab their attention, and you do not want to waste that space with a quote, a greeting, or your name. Instead, start with something like:

Full-Stack Developer with _____ years of experience building dynamic web applications and specializing in adaptive cross-browser front-end development, mobile device optimization, and CMS theming.

IMPORTANT: Remove your Telegram link and email address. Providing these in your profile is against Upwork's Terms of Service and can get your account suspended or terminated.

The other areas of your profile look good.

Hello Tetiana,

I looked through your profile and I think everything looks really good. I do not see any problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

There is a small misspelling in your title under your Image Editing specialized profile. There should be a "t" added to "Expert":  Photoshop & Lightroom Expert - Retoucher. I suggest removing the "7 years experience" because most clients will probably ignore that part.

Everything else looks great.

Hi Shahzad Ali,

I think your profile overview/summary contains a lot of good information, but it is quite long. Most clients will never read more than a few paragraphs, so make sure your most important information is near the top. All of the information you list under Experience:  about prior jobs might be unnecessary. Most of that information should be in the employment history section of your profile.

Other than that, I think your profile is on the right track. If you can think of any HR items to add to a portfolio, that might help get more attention since clients often like visuals.

Ravi,

I like the information in your overview/summary, but I usually caution freelancers to avoid words like "passionate" and "results-driven." They sound great, but everybody uses those words. Also, you should refer to yourself by a skill area rather than simply "professional." Then, instead of focusing on your skill set and qualifications, speak more to how you can help the clients--like you do in your third paragraph. For example, you could say:

Results-driven professional Data Analyst with a strong background in data visualization, product/project management, and data analytics. I use leading Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Superset, and advanced Excel to transform complex data into meaningful insights and visually compelling dashboards.

With a proven track record of successfully managing end-to-end projects, I can help your organization bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions, ensuring seamless implementation and delivery of data-driven solutions.

(The last two paragraphs are great.)

Next, add a portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression and clients will expect to see data visualization examples, whether from Excel or screenshots from Power BI or Tableau. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

I think everything else looks good.

Good luck!

Hi Tish,

It looks like you are just getting started on Upwork. One of the most important parts of your profile is your overview/summary where you tell clients about the services you provide. Your summary starts with an introduction and I suggest you remove it. Why? Because the first two sentences of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. Clients will only see the first two sentences, so you have to say something that grabs their attention.

You have good information in your summary, but I think it can be more attractive to prospective clients if you give them more information about what you can do for them. My suggestion is to remove this: "Hi, thank you for visiting my profile. I’m Tessa, a self-motivated professional who will be there for anything administrative and operational." Instead, start your summary by telling clients a little about your background and immediately jump into how you can help them. For example:

I am an expert Virtual Assistant with more than 10 years of experience helping businesses improve their operations and meet their deadlines by expertly preparing and managing a variety of administrative, business, and other needs. From handling your calendars and appointments to managing your social media, I’ve got you covered!

What sets me apart is my ‘can do’ attitude and my drive to learn new skills. I can help you manage every detail of your business like data collection and data entry, file and document maintenance, scheduling, email management, social media management, and customer relationship management.

If you need a reliable and efficient virtual assistant, look no further. I am here to help tou with anything you need!

Also, add more skill categories to your skills list. We are allowed up to 15 skills, so you have plenty of room to add more. Only add skills that are related to your virtual assistance work. It is important to keep your skills list updated with relevant skills categories so that Upwork can match you with relevant jobs, and so your profile will appear when clients search for your skills.

Then, add a portfolio to show samples of your work. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills (i.e., calendars, schedules, data entry spreadsheets, CRM screenshots, social media campaigns, etc.)

Once you make these updates, I think clients will have a better understanding of the virtual assistance services you offer and how you can help meet their needs or solve their problems.

Hi Ayomide,

The updates you made look good. I think your profile will be more appealing to prospective clients now.

Be sure to update your skills list with more relevant skill categories. At a minimum, you should add Creative Writing and Scriptwriting. The skill categories are used to help clients can find you when they search for your specific skills, and to help Upwork’s matching algorithms match you with relevant jobs.

Hello Jordan,

I read through your profile overview/summary and I think you have a lot of good, informative content. However, most clients never read lengthy profile summaries, so make sure your most important information is near the top.

In your Ghostwriting specialized profile, remove the all CAPS from the first part of your summary and instead, make it sentence case.

Also, your hourly rate is a bit low for a professional ghostwriter.

The other areas of your profile look good, but I think if you can shorten your summaries by combining similar content or removing extraneous content, it will help keep clients interested.

Good luck!
