Please check my profile, have wasted more than 300 connects and only 1 job
Nov 15, 2023 12:54:25 PM by Clark S
Space,
The ratio of job wins to Connect spend is probably not related to your profile; your profile looks fine.
Competition is high for 3D design/render services, so it can be a challenge to win jobs. Many freelancers will submit 10-50 proposals before winning a job, which could be anywhere from 160 to 800 Connects, depending on the number of Connects required to submit.
The next thing to check is your proposal/cover letter design. Make sure you write a custom cover letter based on the client's job:
1) Acknowledge the job you are applying for.
2) Highlight your qualifications.
3) Address specific points in the job by briefly explaining how you can meet their needs or solve their problem.
4) Request the client reach out to discuss their project or request an Upwork Zoom call.
I know it's been difficult to get work, but as long as you can spend the Connects, persistence eventually pays off.

Dear Clark,
I really appreciate that you have taken time to review my profile and also for giving me tips alongwith good hope. It really means alot to me, especially when i am struggling to get some work.

Anthony,
Your overview/summary appears to have good information, but I think some information is missing. You never really finish the thought: "With a portfolio and 7+ years experience in international organizations..."
Maybe you mean to develop an approach similar to the following:
With a strong portfolio as a Human Resources Officer and 7+ years experience in international organizations such as United Nations and the International Livestock Research Institute, I can help organizations improve efficiency, streamline business processes, increase productivity through Financial Modelling (FMVA certified), Data Analysis and Visualization (Python, Power Bi, Stata and UN data visualization certified) and systems development, diagnosis and management including but not limited ERP and SAP (UN certified) .
I'm an expert in Human Resources (UNeHRP certified, Programme Management(Prince 2 certified) and I have the experience to help my clients implement and ensure their HR policies are compliant with labor laws and regulations. |
You should definitely revise it to fit your experience and skill set, but your summary needs to provide specific examples of services you will use to help clients. Clients come to Upwork with specific needs and they look for freelancers with the skills to deliver specific results. In other words, use your summary to justify that $350.00/hr hourly rate since clients do not understand what they will get by hiring--unless you tell them.
Also, add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Good day to you.
I am new here and following the best practices with my knowledge. I think I completed my profile in a professional way and I am maintaining a setting of professional cover letter templates which I feel the professional way to approch the client. I used to boost the bid and submit atleast 5 proposals/ week.
Even though I am taking such steps, my stats remain 0. No visits, no clicks, no impression, no invites, etc. I am looking for a professional advice to improve my profile and find clients. Please find my profile link here https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/ramesh0308
I would appreciate if you can spend a minute to audit my profile.
Thank you

Ramesh,
You are experiencing similar statistics seen by thousands of freelancers. WordPress and web development are highly competitive skill areas, so getting attention from clients (i.e., proposal views, profile views, invites) can be difficult.
There is nothing wrong with your profile and there isn't much that can be improved. Your summary is informative; your profile looks good and your skills list contains relevant skill categories. Your project catalog and other profile areas are good too.
I think it comes down to persistence. There are more freelancers than jobs available, so if you have the Connects to spend, keep trying and hopefully you will win some jobs soon.
Good luck!

I appreciate your time on my profile Clark.
I have one more clarification, I used to submit proposal for entry level job requirements and experiencing the same results. In general terms, are there any particular areas that clients looking for when choosing a freelancer?
Nov 15, 2023 06:41:57 AM by Anthony H
Busola,
You've done well. But change "I'm an HR professional" to "I"m an HR expert." Being a professional is pretty low on the standards. It just means you got paid. It doesn't mean you're any good at it.
Then take out the part about you being a quick learner. Freelancers are expected to know their stuff. There's no employer who teaches you what to do in the world of freelance. Freelancers work for themselves, so you're expected to know your stuff or learn on your own time. Saying you expect to learn on the job is not what clients want to hear.

I was getting views at first then i stopped getting views.
Can you pls review my upwork profile so i can know why i am not gettting views anymore
Nov 15, 2023 07:02:49 PM by Clark S
Moyosore,
I looked through your profile and here is what I see:
1) Three years of social media management experience isn't much, so I would not make that so prominent at the top of your profile overview/summary (i.e., all caps, trophy emojis, etc.) Instead, start your summary with a basic introductory sentence:
Extremely versatile expert Social Media Manager with 3+ years of experience managing social media properties for my clients. I specialize in managing Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), Youtube, and Linkedin accounts using a proven social media strategy. My priority is to enhance brand awareness, improve engagement with your target audience, and drive business results.
As a professional Social Media Manager with experience getting results, here's what can I offer to you: (...) |
Your main profile summary should start similarly to your Other Digital Marketing and Social Media Marketing specialized profile summaries.
Also, you should change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.
Then, add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.
The other sections of your profile look fine.

Hi Everyone!
I am new to Upwork. Request you to review my profile and share feedback.

Nov 15, 2023 06:38:18 AM by Anthony H
Bhavna,
I think you should be more specific. What is it you actually do? What are the tasks that you accomplish when you do project management? What lkinds of projects are you an expert in? You do say "Property Management" once and then you say "Project management." Is that a mistake? Or is project management what you know best?
You should make all this clear. People want to know what they are getting for their money. Just a couple of sentences saying, "I do project management," doesn't really say much.

Hi Arshad,
There are quite a few things you can do to improve your profile:
1) The first thing you should do is change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. No graphics, avatars, or anything that is not a picture of you. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.
2) Your overview/summary has good content, but it's mostly a list of industries and various supply chain support functions. If you want to list functions, talk about them in a way that shows clients how you can help them. For example:
Well-rounded Supply Chain expert with 20+ years of experience in industries like textile, retail, pharmaceuticals , high tech agriculture, analytical and consulting firms. I help businesses better manage their supply chain operations by performing key operation functions including strategic planning, resource management/cost reduction, domestic and international logistics/vendor management, negotiations , factory compliance audits, budgeting, office administration, IT, management presentations, team building, ocean/air freight management, time management, and problem resolution. |
3) Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.
4) You are missing important skill categories in your skills list. You should add categories related to your services: Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain & Logistics, and Logistics Management. These skill categories are keywords Upwork uses to match you with relevant jobs, and to help your profile appear when clients search for your skills.
5) Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Hello everybody,
I haven't had any luck with getting responses to my proposals after my first job, and I'm starting to wonder if it might be my profile. All feedback is appreciated: https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/~012fb03eeb280283c4
Nov 15, 2023 01:07:28 PM by Anthony H
Andrew,
Times are tough. But your profile is a bit underwhelming. Needs a bit more than three or four sentences.
Follow my lead: "I am an expert __________________ with these credentials and this experience ______________________, who can solve these problems for you __________________, ____________________, and _________________. You will benefit from this in the following ways: ________________________, _______________________, and _________________________.
You can't go wrong with that and it gets you going i the right direction. Don't write about yourself; write about your services.
You can also expand on any part of that template I just handed you. Write about your credentials a bit more. Where did you go to school? What work experience do you have that relates to your niche? Then write more about the benefits the clients will realize by hiring you. Share some specifics about how you go about doing your job.
You don't need rhetorical questions like, "Need a website or simple application that runs in a browser?" Clearly your clients know the answer to that without being reminded of it. You also don't need to say "let's keep in touch." Your profile should demonstrate you're a good communicator, so you don't have to say, "I'm a good communicator."
Anyway, that won't change the fact that jobs are hard to come by these days. Everyone's in the same boat on that.

Mr. Onyefulu,
I just checked your profile, 2 suggestions that might help you:
1. To add some work examples.
2. Get some testimonials from your past clients.

Diane,
The problem here is that you've written a very nice marketing piece, but people viewing your profile have already made up their mind that they want to hire a life coach. Since they've already done that, what you want for a profile is more of a sales pitch than a marketing story.
You don't have to rewrite the whole piece, but it should be more along the lines of "I am an excellent life coach who uses cognitive therapy techniques to bring you to your full potential." Then tell people the benefits of hiring you ... "more confidence, sort out priorities, become more focused ... whatever it might be." Of course, I'm just winging it here to come up with examples. But you get the idea.
The standard profile has to be friendly, confident and establish your expertise in your niche. You've done all of that, so I have no quarrel with what you have, except the idea I just mentioned.
I find myself saying this lately, but I would leave it as is for a couple of months and see what response it gets. Of course, in my experience, proposal letters are how you get clients to look at your profile page ... so you have to figure that one out, too. Anyway, your writing is easy to read and clear. The tone is perfect. I don't have a complaint with any of that at all.
