Getting started on Upwork can take a lot of work and focus. To help make this process a little easier, we’ve created this post where you can request feedback on your profile. The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.
If you’re interested in requesting help, make sure your profile visibility is not set to “Private” and then reply below.
We’re excited to see how Community members can continue to help each other to grow!
Note: A previous version of this post was closed as the number of responses made it difficult to read and navigate. If you had not received a response yet to a request you made, please post again in this thread.

Hi,
I'm Ayush, I've been working as a backend engineer for the last 4-5 years.
Please look at my profile and provide feedback. https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/ayushs150?viewMode=1&s=1110580748673863680
Thanks

Hi Ayush,
In your profile title, remove "since 2019" and add a dash to "backend," which is the industry recognized version of the word: Back-End Developer.
Your profile overview/summary does not have enough information to convince clients to hire you. You list companies you've worked with and programming languages and frameworks you use, but you never tell clients how you can help them. Clients have specific needs and they look for freelancers who can meet those needs. To help them better understand how you can meet their needs, provide specific examples of what you can do (i.e., what can you develop/build, how you work with clients to understand their needs, etc.)
Talk about how you manage the development life cycle. Do you stay in constant communication with the client? Do you provide progress or status updates?
Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.
Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Shane,
First, your profile overview/summary does not provide enough information to convince clients to hire you. Second, the information in your summary tells a good story, but it might be confusing to clients since you talk about different skill areas.
If you're here to provide digital marketing services, your summary should focus on that. Don't mention business development, Python programming, or 3D modeling--only talk about your digital marketing services and how you can help clients meet their digital marketing needs.
Since you have a diverse skill set, you may want to add one or two Specialized Profiles that focus on any services not related to digital marketing. This will allow you to offer a separate profile focusing on programming and app development, or 3D renders for interior design.
Providing links to a design website is good, but some clients will not click to navigate off-site.

Hi. Please have a look at my video editing profile and help me with some feedack. Thank you.
Dec 1, 2023 09:31:20 AM by Clark S
Hi Pablo,
Your hourly rate is quite low for a professional video editor. I just searched for video editors based in South Africa and only two of the 40 profiles I viewed were below $20.00/hr. (both were $15.00/hr.) To be taken seriously, you should consider raising your rate.
Your overview/summary is fine, but I would move the information under "Can help with" to the top. Why? Because only the first 200 or so characters of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. This means you have very little space to grab their attention, and you want clients to see their goals (what you can help them with) in the first few lines of your summary.
Here is an example:
I'm here to help you with professional editing to meet your needs. I can edit interviews, highlight reels, stock footage and voice-overs, corporate videos, motion graphics animations, text videos, and perform colour grading and corrections. I enjoy working with you to create the best video possible. |
I think the other areas of your profile look fine.

Saddam,
First of all, don't describe your work as a "side hustle." That just sounds borderline criminal. The word "hustle" doesn't always have good conotations. It's a really bad choice of phrases for you to use.
Secondly, you do a fairly good job of describing yourself. But you do a poor job -- or no job at all -- at describing your customers. Who are they? What do they want? What problems of theirs can you solve?
The quickest way to fix this is to stop writing sentences with the primary subject being "I" and switch over to sentences where the primary subject is "you." One thing that gets clients every time is if you can accurately describe their problem. If you can do that, they will think, "Hey, this guy understands me." If you only write sentences that feature the word "I" then you show that you understand yourself, but you don't show that you understand them ... your clients.
Of course, you will have to describe yourself and your skills, but this should primarily be in deference to your clients. The prototype sentence is, "I have developed these skills to help you with your ______ needs." So, that sentence uses the word "I" once and the word "you" twice. This should be your focus most of the time.

Andrea is an Upwork Moderator. The moderators provide valuable information to freelancers and moderate the forums, but they do not provide profile reviews. Other freelancers offer to review profiles and provide feedback.
There is a review of your profile below.

Hi Rahib,
One of the first things a client sees is your profile title. Right now, the last part of your title is cut off in some views: Graphic Design | Modern Logo design | T-shirt Design | Book cover de..
I recommend making your title shorter and capitalizing the first letter of each word to make it stand out better: Graphic Design | Modern Logos | T-Shirts | Bookcovers
Remove the first few words in your overview/summary: "Greetings! I'm Rahib Chowdhury," Why? Because only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown to clients when they search for freelancers. This means you have very little space to get their attention, and you want clients to see important words in that small space. You don't want to waste space with a greeting or your name; clients can already see your name on your profile.
The rest of your summary, your portfolio, skills, project cataglog, and certifications look good.

Priscyla,
Rahib is correct in his assessment, but I thought I would spell it out a little clearer than he did.
The most important bit is that freelancers sell a service to others and you never get around to saying what it is you are going to perform for others. You list your credentials, but you don't say, "I can do this for you." At a glance, I don't really see how the credentials you list could stack up to a service you could perform remotely, unless it's tutoring or reviewing research or helping write white papers ... Clearly, there's a lot you could monetize remotely, but you have to come out and say what that is. "I am a trained biologist who will edit your book or thesis ... " Or something along those lines.
There are a lot of ways to explain this, but freelancers work for themselves. They operate their own business. They name the service they are selling and offer that to the marketplace. Unless you are willing to travel to make this happen, you are stuck conjuring up a service that can be done remotely. You have to define your niche, present yourself as an expert at that and bid on jobs that match you skills.

Hi Priscyla R, yes I have checked your profile. There are lot's of mistakes you need to be improve. When i have clicked your profile, there was needed some times to understand actually what service you want to give. I was not clear within 1 minute. When i have read your descriptions i was not haapy to about your service. Because, you must be need some space, what you can do for customers, your best achievement, actually client want from sellers what they will get from us, not i am a freelancer, i can do bla bla bla, i have passed bla bla bla.. don't do that kind of things. Because, client just want what you will give and what solutions they will found from you... Add portfolio much more like 30/50 atleast into your account, add projects gig, etc. Follow these things . I think you can improve your account.
