I've been working on wordpress and php since 5 years. But Most of the Clients I got are from social media and other marketing methods. I created my profile on upwork almost 3 years ago .I got only one client on upwork and I worked at almost no cost for that client just to get started. I thought client will leave the feedback but unfortunately, client was unable to find feedback option and I never got any feedback/Review on upwork. Bad Luck!
Here is link of my profile:

Can anyone review my profile and let me know what the issue is?

A $5 job without feedback several years ago is not going to be very meaningful looking to prospective clients, so I would just work on getting some more little jobs to build those positive reviews.
Perhaps consider a more friendly looking profile picture.
Your capitalization is a bit distracting to me. You might get some editing help on the profile content.
On your specialized profiles, your names on the greeting do not match your profile. This might make prospective clients wonder if the content is yours or copied from someone else.

Hi. I just joined Upwork this week and would love feedback on my profile! I appreciate any guidance. This is the first time I've tried freelancing so not quite sure on how to do things.
Thank you in advance!

Christine,
OK, like a lot of people, you tell us you're smart and have experience, but you don't tell us what service you are offering. Right now you're saying, "I have these skills ... what do you want me to do?"
That's great if you're working for someone (that's called a job). But freelancers work for themselves and you're saying you work for yourself, but you don't know what service you're providing. That's a little, uhm, whacked.
You do survey work. Great. So your opening is "I'm a survey expert who can _______________________ (do something, create something ... whatever your service might be), so that you ___________________________ (can go to the beach, can make more money, impress all your friends, concentrate on something else ... whatever the benefit for your clients might be).
That's how it starts.
After that, there are 17 million members on Upwork, so 5+ years of experience isn't really great bragging rights. You have to be an expert. Use the word expert in your first sentence or you will be lost in the void here on Upwork.

Mohammad,
Good information throughout your profile. The only thing I would change is your overview/summary.
I recommend removing the heading "Introduction:" since it wastes valuable space at the beginning of your summary.
Also, you do a good job of listing your experience and skills/proficiencies, but most full-stack developers will list the same set of skills. To better distinguish yourself, I suggest providing details on the value clients will get by working with you. For example:
Clients will find thousands of full-stack developers on Upwork. The question is, do they have enough good reasons to choose you? The information you provide can help them better understand why they should hire you and how it will benefit them.
The other areas of your profile look good.

Sameer,
I see good details throughout your profile. Here are a few suggestions that might help improve it:
1) I recommend using Upwork's skill category in your title. Instead of "Graphic Designing," use Graphic Design.
2) A few things you should remove from your overview/summary:
"👋 Hello!"
"Hey there! I'm Sameer Ahmad,"
When clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want this small space to include important words (i.e., your services, skills, and experience)--not emojis and greetings.
Other parts of your summary I suggest revising:
Clients care more about your services than the software applications you use. Almost all graphic designers will list the same applications, so you want clients to see the words that set you apart from others.
The other areas of your profile look good.

Leonard,
You're trying very hard to be friendly and you're hitting all the right notes. (Makes me suspicious.) (I'm kidding.) But it fails to meet the requirements of freelancing.
You have kind of all your smart stuff written down -- you have all your ducks in a row. But freelancing is about selling a service. And all you say is, "I'm real smart." But you never say what service you are selling.
OK, in the old days, a very, very, very, very smart (precocious) businesman would say, "I've done well in the business sector, but now people keep approaching me and asking me, "How do you set up a proper supply chain?"
Then he gets paid to do a seminar on supply chains and he gets paid a WHOOPPING amount of money and he thinks, "Hey, maybe I could quit my 9-5 and just do this. I could set myself up as a one-trick pony who knows more about this than anyone on the entire planet. They'll be knocking my door down to ask me to be a consultant or a lecturer .."
But it all starts with this guy cooking up a service --
Now, maybe while he drives around the country visiting companies, he gets involved in a few other things and pretty soon ... He's a master Business Consultant.
His service is being a consultant, advising companies.
That's where you start. What are you so good at that you can turn it into a service and actually get away with calling yourself an expert.
Seems like you have the right attitude and the right knowledge, but you don't have any game. What is it you plan to do or what problem to you plan to solve? Be as specific as possible, because, well, because experts don't grow on trees and freelancers got nobody at their back except bill collectors. Nobody will protect you. So you better be real good at the service you offer.
Start with a service. The rest you already have.
(If you don't have a service, then you're asking for a job. But that's not freelance. That's employment.)

Hi William,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. I apologize for the late response.
I come from a background in Systems Engineering, where I've gained valuable skills and experience. Recently, I've also been exploring the realm of digital marketing, inspired by individuals like Jeff Lerner, a self-made millionaire with multiple successful businesses. One of the platforms I've engaged with is "ENTRA". While digital marketing is currently my side-hustle, I aspire for it to become my primary source of income in the future. At present, it's still a work in progress, but I'm excited about the journey ahead.
Regarding my recent venture into freelancing on Upwork, it's new territory for me. I joined after being affected by a corporate merger last November, which led to a reorganization and subsequently, a layoff. Despite actively seeking opportunities and attending interviews, I've found the job market to be quite challenging, which prompted me to explore alternative avenues for income, including Upwork.
Your suggestion to develop a portfolio and project catalog caught my attention, and I took the initiative to review your profile to understand how it's done effectively. As a newcomer to both freelancing and Upwork, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on what kind of information would be most beneficial to include in my portfolio and project catalog, given my background in Systems Engineering.
Thank you for considering my request. Any insights or advice you could provide would be immensely helpful as I navigate this new chapter in my career.
Warm regards,
Leo

I would start with a lower hourly rate than $200 to get established with some positive reviews.

I am not familiar with your specific niche, sorry. I would suggest searching on Talent to see what the typical rates are within others who have similar skills and success on the platform.

Hello Darshan,
Welcome to Upwork.
Just for clarity--freelancing is not Upwork. Rather, Upwork can be one of many tools freelancers use to build or sustain their freelancing business.
There is good information in your profile, but here are some changes that will make your profile more appealing to clients:
1) Your overview/summary should not be a list of skills and qualifications. Your summary should use a conversational tone to tell potential clients about your experience and background, your services, and how you can help meet their needs. For example:
Need help managing G-Suite and Google Workspace Administration? I can help you achieve enhanced collaboration, communication, and efficiency by implementing, managing, and optimizing your Google Workspace solutions.
I help businesses with Google email management (i.e., Users, Groups, Drive, Calendar. Meet ); email security (i.e., SPF, DKIM, DMARC, Spoofing, SPAM, 2FA, 3rd Party Apps); mobile device management (i.e., Google MDM); mail routing, forwarding, and compliance rules.
I have 16+ years of experience in IT operations and understand how to help your organization leverage the full potential of Google's cloud-based collaboration and productivity suite.
(Add more information about how you communicate with clients during a work project. Tell clients how you help protect proprietary data and information, and maintain quality standards. Also mention your time management and organizational skills. Finally, highlight any similar projects you have worked on and your accomplishments.) |
2) The item in your portfolio looks good, but I recommend adding at least one more sample of previous work or anything to demonstrate your skills or knowledge of Google Workspace. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients.
The other areas of your profile look good.
Good luck!

hello. i am new to upwork. i have had a interview already but no response. please help by looking at my profile and give feed back i will realy appreciate.
Feb 2, 2024 12:38:19 PM by Clark S
Hello Doris,
Congratulations on getting your first interview. Hopefully it becomes a job invite where the client hires you for a great job.
I looked through your profile and I have a few suggestions that might help improve it:
Title: The word "operations" is a bit generic for a profile title. I recommend using "operations specialist" to give clients an idea of your background. Also, capitalize the first letter of each word in your title; this will help it stand out. For example: Operations Specialist | Virtual Assistance | Data Analysis | Admin Support
Overview/Summary: I strongly recommend removing the first part of your first sentence:
"Hello, and welcome to my Upwork profile! I'm Doris,"
Here's why: when clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space (approximately two short sentences) to get their attention. You want clients to see your services, skills, and experience in that small space--not greetings, welcomes, or names.
Add a few blank lines between the last two paragraphs to make your summary easier to read:
Portfolio: The item in your portfolio looks great. However, some clients may not know to click to open the PDF file. To ensure all clients see some of your most important services, I suggest adding the Data Analysis, Presentation Design, Brand Strategy, and Content Creation items directly to your Upwork portfolio.
Specialized Profile: You may want to add a Specialized Profile to focus on any virtual assistance services you can provide. I noticed "virtual assistance" in your title, but clients don't often think of "operations" and virtual assistance together. For general virtual assistance, clients often think of data entry tasks, making/answering phone calls, email management, calendar/schedule management, etc.
Your skills and employment history look great.
Good luck!
