Get Profile Feedback from Experienced Freelancers on Upwork

Hi Community!

Getting started on Upwork can take a lot of work and focus. To help make this process a little easier, we’ve created this post where you can request feedback on your profile. The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.

If you’re interested in requesting help, make sure your profile visibility is not set to “Private” and then reply below.

We’re excited to see how Community members can continue to help each other to grow!

Note: A previous version of this post was as the number of responses made it difficult to read and navigate. If you had not received a response yet to a request you made, please post again in this thread.

Cheers,
Mike

Waqas,

You wrote one sentence for your profile. I suggest you look at other Upwork profiles and find freelancers who have some success. One sentence of effort, basically, isn't going to get you much work.

Angeles,

Your photo is too dark. You want a photo just like you have -- a direct head shot -- but you need one that doesn't obscure your face.

Hi Mike. I can't figure out how to reverse my profile from being 'private'? I was inactive for a while, but now I am back again with complete devotion, so I would like to make it available to the public if you could assist.

Usama,

Not bad ... I think your rate is a bit low, but your profile has no errors in it that I can see.

Good luck.

Can you please rate me (I'm open to all answers), I'm very new here I grabbed a few ideas here and there about profile building...

However, after so many proposals (applied with shortly-written cover letters usually 3-4 sentences) I didn't receive anything :')

Hey Danila, please use all 15 Skills and place both the Summary and Employment information into a short paragraph form. Thanks!

Danila,

Your write-up seems OK. I wonder if you can edit educational videos why you don't edit other types as well. It's funny, because I almost always advise people to specialize because that way you can claim to be an expert -- the best educational video editor around. If it's that special a talent to do educational videos compared to another kind, however, you should explain why you focus on educational videos and what you do that's different from other types of video editing. The marketing tactic here is to find a competetive advantage, so if you explained why educational videos were different or took special skills or knowledge compared to other video editing jobs, you could also raise your rates -- after all, you would be a specialist with a tightly defined skill set.

So, what's the difference? Are you aiming for educational videos for a reason? Otherwise, you risk missing out on other types of work, but if there's a good strong market for educational videos by themselves (as opposed to other types) then you should really raise your rates. Does this make sense?
