Getting started on Upwork can take a lot of work and focus. To help make this process a little easier, we’ve created this post where you can request feedback on your profile. The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.

If you’re interested in requesting help, make sure your profile visibility is not set to “Private” and then reply below.

Peter,

The first thing you should do is change your profile photo. The picture in your photo should be a close-up image of your head and shoulders that clearly shows your face. Read through Upwork's best practices for How to Choose A Good Profile Picture.

Next, to qualify as an expert writer, you have to have credentials and experience. There are no education, qualifications, or experience noted in your profile. There is nothing wrong with offering quality writing services, but clients will want to see the origins of your expertise (e.g., work in journalism, freelancing writing experience, etc.)

Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

I looked through your profile and I see good information. However, I have a few suggestions that might help improve your profile.

Title: There is a lot of information in your title and I suggest a few revisions. Capitalize "Sap" since the acronym is capitalized across industry; correct the spelling of "Tablea," and reverse the certification name. Altogether, your title would be: Google Certified Data Analyst | SAP ERP | Excel | Supply Chain | Tableau

Overview/Summary: Your summary sounds good, but I recommend adding blank lines between paragraphs to make it easier to read. Here is an example:

Try this -- go to Upwork’s Profile Changed to Private and click the Reset My Profile Visibility button, and someone from Upwork should reset it for you. If that does not work, post a request in the Support Forum and an Upwork moderator can reset your profile.

Title: Use only skill categories in your title, and remove the experience information. Also, capitalize the first letter of each word; this will help it stand out: WordPress Developer | SEO and Affiliate Marketing

Overview/Summary: Your first paragraph is fine, but to make it better, focus less on your passion and more on helping clients. Clients don't really care why you like designing websites; clients only want to know how you can help them. See a slight revision below:

Your portfolio looks fine, but I think you should add one or two more data analytics items. The Superstore Dashboard is great and I think clients would love to see one or two more examples like this.

I have two suggestions for your overview/summary that might help improve it: 1) instead of leading with your experience, immediately tell clients about your services and/or how you can help them; you can do this throughout your summary be making it more client-focused; and 2) add blank lines between paragraphs to make your summary easier to read.

Here is an example of 1) and 2):

As a former Global IT Service Desk Analyst, I can provide technical support and assistance to end-users, no matter where they are located. I use knowledge management applications and Google search to ensure your customer's IT-related issues and requests are addressed promptly and effectively.

I believe continuous learning, training, and communication are keys for successful solution implementation as well as solid data analysis using tools like Microsoft Power BI. As an expert Data Analyst, I am proficient in creating SQL queries, utilizing data visualization applications, and managing databases.

(I highly suggest removing the following because it provides no real value to clients.)

You are missing at least one important skill category in your skills list: Data Analytics. You should also add Data Analysis. Upwork uses these skill categories to match you with relevant jobs and to help your profile appear when clients search for those skills. Since you use "data analytics" and "data analyst" in your title and throughout your summary, adding them to your skills list creates consistency and help's Upwork's matching algorithms.

You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking a minimum of 10 business days. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.

1) There is good information in your overview/summary, but I recommend speaking directly to potential clients in a conversational tone. Also, remove the leading quotation (") and the number signs (#) from your summary.

Here is an example:

I’m a Wordpress expert who builds dynamic websites for small and medium-sized businesses and organizations. I can customize, design, optimize for speed, migrate, and redesign websites efficiently and within budget. I can also help the following topics:

(This should be removed because it basically repeats everything in the first sentence.)

◉ Graphic Design: logos, business cards, banners, stationaries, flyers, photo background removal, product designing, YouTube thumbnails, and other social network side thumbnails.

◉ Virtual Assistance: writing in Microsoft Word, creating Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, email management, and social network management.
