Hello Olympia,

When you get a moment, be sure to check out the review Anthony provided on 16 December.

Here is what I see in your profile:

Title: Your title is okay, but it should only include skill areas. For example: Project Optimization Specialist | Technical Writing Expert.

Overview/Summary: I highly recommend removing the first line of your summary: "Dedicated to delivering results and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction."  This sentence is generic and could be used across 1,000 professions. Plus, it takes up too much valuable space that could be filled with your services and experience.

When clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have very little space to get their attention. You want that small space to include important words (i.e., services, skills, experience).

The rest of your summary sounds like it could be auto-generated. That's okay, but you need to make it more conversational--as if you're telling a client about your services, skills, and how you can help them. Here's an example:

Seasoned freelancer Project Optimization Specialist who excels at creating dynamic technical writing to convey intricate details, document processes, and facilitate data-driven decision support. I can orchestrate and optimize projects for seamless execution using technology writing and operations consulting.

1. Business Process Documentation:  I can develop comprehensive documentation outlining current business processes, workflows, and procedures within your organization. This includes detailed flowcharts, narratives, and supporting documentation to provide a clear understanding of how tasks are executed.

2. Requirements Specification Documents: I can also create detailed requirements documentation for software development or system enhancement projects. I am exceptional at clearly articulating functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and acceptance criteria, and I can guide your development teams to ensure alignment with business goals.

(...)

You get the idea--make the content more client-focused by saying things like "I can" or "I will," and maybe mention positive potential outcomes of your services.

Portfolio: Add one or two more items to your portfolio. With all of your technical writing and report generation experience, clients will want to see a few samples and the portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on them. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.

Project Catalog: You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking a minimum of 10 business days. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.

Your skills list and employment history look good.

Vibhor,

I think your profile looks good. I'm not seeing any huge problems or issues that would prevent a client from hiring you.

If you have the AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect certification, or any other tech certification, you should add them.

You should consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking a minimum of 10 business days. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.

Everything else looks good.

Momin,

Overall, I think your profile is good. However, competition among full-stack developers is high, so I recommend adding more information to your overview/summary. More specifically, give clients more reasons to choose you over other developers. Talk about your process for managing the development life cycle and how you communicate with clients to get feedback. Tell them if you offer unlimited revisions and how you ensure quality for their product.

Thousands of full-stack developers have the same skills as you, so make sure you explain why you are the client's best choice. You can do this by including information like your timeliness, your success developing for X clients, and your ability to produce products faster, and how you are open to working within the client's budget.

Also, add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. This is especially important when the jobs are highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.

Amishalam,

I usually recommend freelancers change the beginning of their overview/summary when it looks like yours. However, it might be easier to show you what clients will see:

celgins_2-1703112996758.png

The question is: do you want clients seeing this and do you believe this will convince them to click?

When clients search for freelancers, only the first 200-250 characters of your summary are shown. This means you have 200+ characters (approximately two sentences) to get their attention. Right now, your 200-250 characters consists of emojis and a few repeats from your title. If you prefer this, it's okay, but I recommend using that 200-250 characters to squeeze in as many services, experience, and support approaches as possible.

I think your portfolio, skills, project catalog, certifications, and employment history are sound.

Mustafa,

Hi. Nice photo.

Some mistakes. Don't start a profile with "Hello. My name is Mustafa." This is a rookie mistake. Your name is already visible on the profile and Upwork allows clients quick looks at the first 200 words or so of your profile. What they need to know right away is whether or not you are an expert in your field. Saying, "Hello. My name is Mustafa," is just a waste of time and a distraction.

Don't say "with 3 years experience." That just isn't enough experience or doesn't sound like enough. It probably is more than enough, but it doesn't sound impressie. It's like saying, "Hello. My name is Mustafa and I'm not very good at my work."

Never say, "you'll not get any revision after posting your video , in that case, you'll place a whole new order." In the first place, this makes it sound like you expect to fail. So don't ever say that. Secondly, Upwork already has a guarantee plan for your clients, so you don't have to provide one. Thirdly, if you promise things like that, people will take advantage of you. If that happens, you will pul back and it just looks like you were lying all along.

Don't say, "providing exceptional service" or "ensuring customer satisfaction." We already covered "ensuring customer satisfaction." As for "providing exceptional service," I would advise you to be more specific. Instad of "providing exeptional service," you should point out the results clients want. Say, "providing you with video material your audience will love." The phrase"exceptional service," is just too vague. Clients want results. So tell them you provide terrific results in the form of great short films ... be specific like that.

Good luck to you. You sound enthusiastic. That's good to see.

Hi All,

Please have a look at my profile and provide me feedback.

Thank you!

Hi Charu,

I looked through your profile and there is not enough information there to convince clients to hire you. To make your profile more appealing, you must provide more information your services and how you can deliver those services to meet client's needs. Clients come to Upwork with specific needs and they look for freelancers who can get results.

First, you should your title should reflect a specific skill area or related skill areas. Software engineering and typing/writing are not related, and might confuse clients. It is great to have a diverse skill set, but most clients are looking for specialized skills to meet a specific need. I recommend adding a Specialized Profile to focus on your typing/writing services, and focus your main profile on software engineering/embedded systems.

Then, you must use your summary to go deeper into your services. You do a good job of mentioning your experience with embedded system design and management, but clients would rather hear how you can help them. For example:

As a software engineer specializing in embedded systems design and management, I can lead the product design process including system architecture design, firmware development, electronic hardware design, and system integration.

(Also, talk about your ability to work with clients to understand their unique requirements. Then, talk about how you communicate during the product design phase to ensure client feedback is incorporated into the final design. After that, tell them the other benefits of hiring you (i.e., faster production times, accuracy, attention to detail, unlimited revisions, etc.)

I recommend adding one or two more items to your portfolio. The PCB layout from the circuit schematic is great, but clients will expect to see a few more samples from an engineer, and the portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression.

Your skills list, project catalog, employment history, and other areas look good. The biggest thing is to work on your summary by adding more client-focused content.

Good luck!

Md,

I kind of like your profile, but a few things. One. Take out "Welcome to my profile!" Just take my word for it. It's unnecessary and it slows you down.

Second, if you post a rate that low, people will assume that's what you think you are worth. I don't want to hire someone who doesn't think they're very good at their work. I want to hire someone who knows what they are doing and has confidence they can get the job done.

Along with your low hourly rate, you don't provide any details about past successes. You say you are seasoned at this type of work; could you provide a few details to make that convincing? How/where did you get this experience? What kind of results have you notched in the past?

Give people credible details on your work history and post a more confident hourly rate.

Good luck.
