Hi Asad,
I think your profile looks really good. Your overview/summary has solid background and skills information. But if I could add anything to your summary, I would provide a brief overview of your methods for working with clients. For example:
The skills and experience in your summary are great, but giving clients a glimpse of your project management approach offers a lot of value, and might convince them to hire you.
Also, add short job descriptions to each GIS-related job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork. Like the skill categories in your skills list, Upwork uses job titles and descriptions to look for synergy in your profile, and to match you with relevant jobs and show your profile in relevant search results.
Your skills, portfolio, certifications, and testimonials look great.
You should also consider adding a project catalog. The project catalog allows you to setup a pre-packaged service that clients can buy without you sending a proposal. Due to higher than usual requests for project catalogs, reviews and approvals are taking a minimum of 10 business days. Read Get Started With Project Catalog for more information.
Good luck!

Jerin,
For my money 6 years of experience or 10 years of experience is not that convincing. It sounds like something in a letter or a resume.
Is there a stronger way to say that? Can you start out with "I am an established composer, music producer and sound technician with over 10 years of hands-on experience, who can ____________________________.
I'm also surprised -- and not in a good way. That you say you're a composer and you put this IN A LIST?
That should not be in a list along with the groceries you need. "Vegetables, soda, composer ..." It's an incredible thing to be a composer and you put it in a list!!!
Can't you say something more about that? You sound extraordinary and your just casually say you've edited sound for Blockbuster India features!!! Wow!!! Can't you say more about that? Can you name some of your projects? Can you name some of the composers and musicians and directors you've worked along side?
Have you done commercials? I would think 90 percent of freelance work would be commercials ... and you don't even mention them!
I would think you could really punch up your profile. This is your time to shine and you just kind of blah, blah, blah. You have worked at the top of your profession and you come of like a big yawn.
Clearly, I'm just trying to kick you in the backside. You can do much, much better than that. Put some spirit in it! Give us some impressive details.

Hi Felipe,
Your profile takes an approach I see in many profiles of freelancers new to Upwork. You are using a single profile to tell potential clients about a variety of skills. Having a diverse skill set is great, but clients rarely need a data entry specialst and translator.
1) The best way to approach this is by using your main profile to offer your strongest servcies and create one or two Specialized Profiles that focus on any unrelated services. For example, if your main profile is data entry, your title should be something like: Data Entry Specialist. There really isn't a need to use "typing" in your title because almost all data entry jobs require typing. Then, create a specialized profile for your translation services. There, you can use a title like: Portuguese to English Translator
2) For your main profile (data entry) and specialized profile (translation), use your overview/summary to tell clients which services you provide, your experience providing those services, and a brief overview of how you can help clients meet their needs.
3) Next, remove the resume from your portfolio. If you wish to keep the resume, you must remove all contact information (i.e., email, phone, address, etc.) The contact information violates Upwork's Terms of Service, and they can ban your account for it.
Instead of a resume in your portfolio, add samples of previous work or examples that demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.
After you make these updates, you can come back and request another review, and someone will review your updates.

I am seeking community reviews and positive feedback. Thank you.
Feb 19, 2024 05:56:48 PM by Clark S
Abdulazeez,
Your profile overview/summary sounds like ChatGPT or another generative AI chatbot. It's okay if you prefer to use auto-generated content, but you need to customize it. For example, when you say: "I am proficient in industry-standard software..." -- which software tools do you have experience with?
Your summary needs are more personal touch like:
The other sections of your profile look fine, but there should be some personalization to your summary.
Good luck!

Samina,
I'm sorry for all that you have endured. Hopefully, using Upwork will allow you to grow your freelancing career and be successful.
I looked through your profile and you have good information throughout. However, I think you should separate your medical coding services from digital marketing services since these are unrelated skill areas. Clients on Upwork will probably not need both services at the same time.
1) The best way to do this by creating Specialized Profiles. For example, if your main profile focuses on medical coding services, your specialized profile can focus on digital marketing services. This will help reduce confusion and allow clients to focus on the specific services they need from you.
2) The information in your first and second paragraphs are generic. I recommend starting your main profile summary with your third and fourth paragraphs. Also, a few slight revisions can make the content more client-focused. For example:
Highly skilled medical coder and billing specialist with expertise in accounts receivable, EMR, revenue cycle management, denial management, medical terminology, and various billing systems. I am well versed in HIPAA regulations and have experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance billing processes.
I can translate medical services, procedures, diagnoses, and equipment into universal alphanumeric codes for billing, reimbursement, medical records, and research. I am adept at multi-tasking with precision and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong analytical skills. I am committed to providing accurate and timely medical billing services, and can work with you to understand your unique |
This type of information at the beginning of your summary is more important to clients and they would rather read this first.
Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. I know you cannot add actual medical coding documents, but anything that shows your ability to manage medical coding projects. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression and most clients like to see visual representations of services.
Your skills, certifications, and employment history look great.
Once you update your summary, start applying for jobs that match your qualifications by writing great cover letters. Write a custom cover letter based on the client's job:
1) Acknowledge the job you are applying for.
2) Highlight your qualifications.
3) Address the specifics of the job by briefly explaining how you can meet their needs or solve their problem.
4) Request the client reach out through Upwork to discuss their project.
For more tips on cover letters, read through Upwork's best practices on How To Write a Cover Letter.
Good luck!

Muhammad,
I suggest focusing your main profile on your strongest skill area. If you are equally good at customer service and translations/transcribing, I still think you should focus your main profile on one--not both. Clients come to Upwork with specific needs, but most clients probably don't need a customer service specialist and a translator in the same freelancer.
1) You have good information in your overview/summary, but it sounds as if you're auditioning for a job. It's okay to tell clients how great you are, but as a freelancer, you are the subject matter expert. Your summary should tell clients about your customer service skills, experience, and how you can help clients and why they should to hire you--not what you are interested in. It will be best to focus on the client and not yourself.
To do this, I suggest revising your summary to make it more client-focused. For example:
Skilled Customer Service and Sales Specialist with 5 years experience helping businesses deliver quality customer experiences by addressing inquiries, concerns, or any issues a customer may have. I can interact with your customers through chat, by phone and email, or social media platforms. I excel at handling
I am fluent in both English and Arabic which provides greater flexibility to my clients operating in multicultural environments. Being bilingual allows me to be more sensitive to cultural differences, handle more customer inquiries, and expertly translate them to easily understandable information in your preferred language.
Why choose me?
◉ Translation and Transcription (English and Arabic)
(Now, add an action statement.)
Ready to get started or need immediate support? I'm available for a video call through Upwork Zoom to discuss your projects and how I can help. |
Focusing your main profile on customer service means removing "Translation and Transcribing" from your title. If you prefer to keep them, you must tell clients how they relate to customer service or virtual assistance. Plus, if you use "virtual assistance," in your title or summary for your main profile, clients will expect to read more administrative/secretarial services.
2) Add a portfolio to show samples of previous work or to demonstrate your skills. The portfolio is a chance to make a positive first impression on potential clients. If you don’t have relevant examples to add to your portfolio, you can create items that demonstrate your skills.
3) You are missing very important skill categories in your skills list. Your title, summary, certifications, and employment history are filled with "customer service," but you never use it in your skills list. I recommend adding Customer Service. Upwork uses these skill categories to match you with relevant jobs, and to help your profile appear in search results when clients search for those skills.
4) Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.
Good luck!

Thank you.
Here is my profile link.
Feb 19, 2024 10:07:45 PM by Clark S
Irtasam,
I see good information in your profile. There are two things I would do to improve your overview/summary:
1) I suggest moving education content away from the first sentence; clients care more about your services. The projects you mentioned are great, but many clients may not understand the work involved unless you offer a brief explanation. Here is how I would start your summary:
I am a Full Stack Blockchain Developer who can design, build, and maintain decentralized applications (DApps) and blockchain protocols. I have completed many notable projects, including the Xp.network multi-chain NFT bridge, Liquid Swap, and Vlaunch multi-chain staking. Previously a Senior Blockchain Developer at XP.network, I am now working as a freelancer. |
2) Now, you must provide more information about your services and how you can help clients with their blockchain needs. For example:
Clients looking for full-stack blockchain developers will find them on Upwork. The question is, do they have enough good reasons to choose Irtasam? The information you provide can help them better understand why they should hire you and how it will benefit them.
3) Also, add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the services you provide on Upwork.
Everything else looks good.
Good luck!

will you review my profile and provide feedback?
Feb 19, 2024 10:51:57 PM by Clark S
Tesfahun,
Good information in your profile.
I recommend adding blank lines between paragraphs in your overview/summary to make it easier for clients to read:

My expertise lies in equipping public health personnel with the necessary knowledge and tools through capacity building training and workshops to effectively respond to public health emergencies, with a specific emphasis on diseases like Malaria.
I have a proven track record in educating the public on preventive measures for diseases like Malaria and other public health emergencies. I excel in analyzing surveillance data, issuing early warnings, and communicating risks to stakeholders and the general public.
My skills include anticipating, preventing, and detecting public health emergencies, as well as investigating outbreaks and implementing intervention activities to control and recover from health threats. I am adept at identifying, assessing, and monitoring potential threats to public health, and coordinating the formulation of preparedness and response plans for diseases like Malaria. I have experience in strengthening the capacity of human resources in the health sector through training initiatives and coordination efforts with academic institutions and other health actors.
Additionally, I have a strong background in issuing bulletins, releasing information on health priorities, and issuing technical guidelines for humanitarian health assistance. My expertise in coordinating and assisting partners in delivering health assistance in emergency situations is unparalleled. Overall, My profile reflects my dedication to promoting public health and ensuring the safety and well-being of communities. |
Add short job descriptions to each job in your employment history. A job description is especially important when the job is highly relevant to the public health services you provide on Upwork.
