Get Profile Feedback from Experienced Freelancers on Upwork

Getting started on Upwork can take a lot of work and focus. To help make this process a little easier, we’ve created this post where you can request feedback on your profile. The community is full of experienced Upwork freelancers who are passionate about helping others. These users will review your profile and provide feedback based on their experience.

If you’re interested in requesting help, make sure your profile visibility is not set to “Private” and then reply below.

We’re excited to see how Community members can continue to help each other to grow!

Note: A previous version of this post was closed as the number of responses made it difficult to read and navigate. If you had not received a response yet to a request you made, please post again in this thread.

Craig,

Welcome aboard.

So, you think this is easy? When was the last time you agreed to give someone $65 per hour based on one sentence?

On the Internet, the people who hire you are strangers. They want to know what they will get for their money. They want to know the results you can deliver. They want specifics, not grand-sounding statements. Who did you work for? What projects have you successfully completed? Do you have any certifications or college experience?

Out of scratch, you have to prove you are who you say you are.

You also should do this in a narrative (story-telling) style. "I am an expert _____ who has _____ experience and ____ credentials who can solve these problems for you _______, _______, and ______. There's your template. A narrative approach is needed, because nobody wants to read a bleeping resume. Further, people (remember -- strangers) who hire you want to get to know you a bit before they say, "Hey, I'm going to give you money for what you do."

The narrative style allows you to accomoplish the three (or four) things a profile needs: Establish your expertise. It has to show you are friendly. (People don't hire people they don't like.) And -- very important -- be confident. (They don't have any confidence in you; you have to bring that with you and hope they get the message.) The fourth marker is to show you are different from all the rest (called the competetive advantage).

All that said ... you've barely gotten started. Guaranteed, nobody hires anyone here if they think they can sneak in with a one-sentence profile.
