Hi all,
I am new to Upwork and have a question regarding the income structure with Upwork.
I love in Australia and obviously have to abide by their tax laws.
Now I understand in Australia I will need and ABN when working as a freelancer with Upwork, however I would like to know, in regards to getting paid. Does the person who posted the job you're doing pay you, or do they pay Upwork and then Upwork pays you?
In other words if you have multiple jobs at the same time, do you have multiple income streams? Or is it like you technically do work for Upwork and then ultimately they pay you for your work?
Thank you for your time and answers
Kind regards,
Henri Welman

Henri,
Upwork is paying you on behalf of your clients. Have a great day!

Hi Henri,
Thank you for your message. Upwork does not act as an employer or employ you. You work for the clients registered on the platform and Upwork facilitates payments from your clients to your Upwork account. You can add a payment method to initiate a withdrawal when your funds are available for withdrawal. Feel free to message us if you need further assistance.
Thank you,
Pradeep
