and am looking to do

proofreading/editing jobs

(amongst others).

Any tips or guidance

from the more experienced community

would be very welcome 🙂

Hey man-

Major tip is to personalize each and every Cover Letter. Don't send out batches of generic letters. Figure out what sets you apart from the rest.

That's what helped me the most!

Your profile says you are a writer, so I'm not sure why you are looking for editing/proofreading jobs - the skills are not necessarily mutually inclusive. And if you want to proofread - any client browsing the forum subject headings, will see your typo (joke or not, I think you should correct it ;)).

You ought to add a portfolio to your profile, and as you have been writing since you were ten, you must have some appropriate pieces to start off with. Try also to find a niche. Don't be too general.

 As in you've never edited before or never edited professionally? Stick with writing if that is the case. Upwork is not the place to learn a profession.
