How do I know if it is a scam?

Hello! I need help! I have my first response to an applicaiton, for a conversation recording job. First, I don't know if it is okay to do the job via zoom, because that was what the client said. Is it okay or the job needs to be in the upwork app? It violates the upwork policies?

Thank you!!

Hi Christina P.,

According to my experience, don't go outside UpWork and don't share any of your personal contact information. It's not safe. Also, it's against the UpWork rules. Scammers target freshers and post jobs where they get more proposals. For example Data Entry Jobs, Typing Jobs etc. Be careful if you do this kind of jobs.

If there's a funded contract in place, like an hourly contract, then, no, everything's good. If, though, the client is asking for work without sending you a funded contract, then that's against Upwork's ToS and should be reported.

Please be careful. Scammers tend to target profiles like yours, with no previous working experience and conveying the idea the owner is a newbie who could be easily scammed.
