How does logging work and payment happen?

Hi Upworkers,

Lovely to e-meet you all.

I have had my first job offer on Upwork, which is really exciting.

It's a 2-hour a week gig with an hourly rate. We've decided that the work will be conducted in half-hourly increments throughout the week.

I'm wondering how I log my work (or hours) through Upwork moving forward. Do I need to log my own, or does the employer do so?

Also, how does payment work? Is it on a weekly cycle, or monthly?

Looking forward to becoming much more active in this community moving forward.

Very best,

Log time using desktop-based Upwork time-tracker application.

Client does nothing.

You get paid automatically.

Hi Michelle,

Since this is an hourly contract, you will need to download the Upwork Desktop App to log time for your hourly contracts. When you log time, your client will be billed every week, and you will be automatically paid according to the Weekly Billing Cycle.

Here are some freelancer resources we compiled that you may want to read up to help you get started on the platform.

Welcome to Upwork!
