How inactive hourly contract effects on success rates?

I have an open hourly contract with a client who never sent me a task.

This is particularly because I'll manage data obtained thru UpWork API, but UpWork is not giving my client an API key. So I have no data to work with.

I just finished 4 jobs and ready to propose a new contract to a previous client. I guess my success rate will be calculated any time soon, and I wanted to know if this open contract will impact negatively on it.

What should I do?

This means you made a mistake.

Do not accept an hourly contract until you have enough information or input files sufficient to do at least ten minutes of work.

Then you will not run into a situation in which you have a zero-pay contract.

Well, actually, the task is clear, but my client doesn't have an Enabled API Key from UpWork.

Neither my client nor I expect to spend months waiting for approval.

So, as long as I bill some time is enough to not have a negative impact? Can the contract continue open or I need to bill 10 minutes and close it/ ask to close it?

Thanks

Hi Horacio,

You may want to read up on these help articles here, and here for more information on how this contract will affect your Job Success Score, once you have one.
