How this hourly contract thing works?

I'm new here, I had an hourly contract, I made it turn into fixed price because I don't know how it's being calculated. In the forum I saw some answers like "Upwork has a timetracker app, download it for desktop or mobile etc" but when I search it I can't find such app. Even if I find and start, how trustworthy it can be? How it's being calculated? Isn't it something open to abuse? How can we proof that we worked this much hours on a project? I'm so confused about it and need info. Thanks.

Ok I found the timetracker, it's in upwork's desktop app, I found here: https://www.upwork.com/i/mobile/

But ironically, I had seen this page before but the "desktop app" section is at the most bottom, it should have been much more visible and reachable I think. Anyway I downloaded the app but it says "Fixed-Price contracts no longer appear in this list by default", -though I have a choice to set it back into a way that shows also fixed price contracts- and currently I don't have hourly contract but when I have it, I wonder how this thing is working. I guess we need to "experience" it to comprehend completely.

Hi Furkan,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Hourly contracts may be covered by Upwork Hourly Protection. For all of your hourly contracts, your clients are automatically invoiced and billed for the hours you log according to the weekly billing cycle

You may want to check this help article to find more information about getting paid for hourly contracts.
