How to get work when you are new here but already an expert with years of experience

Hello

I joined your fabulous community yesterday and I applied to 16 jobs but so far nobody asked me for an interview even though I have a lot of experience working in my specialised fields (video production, PR and social media).

Any idea of how to improve my profile? It just really seems like most clients ask for a track record which I don't have on this platform yet.

thank you,

Grigorij

Clients don't always reply right away. It might take a few days to a few weeks, and sometimes the client never follows up and the job simply expires. Additionally, you won't get a reply if a client isn't interested in your proposal.

It's going to take some persistence to land your first few jobs and start getting established. Apply smartly and don't let yourself get frustrated.

Also make sure to read up on what works in proposals/cover letters here on Upwork on for a profile. Applying to job posts here on Upwork is different than in the brick and mortar world or on other sites. A proposal I send to a client referral not from Upwork is totally different than one through Upwork, simply due to the nature of how they are presented to the client.

You have some great things to boast on your profile but you waste the first two lines re-iterating your job title and what you do. All clients care about is what you can do for them (and your credentials). I would lead with your accomplishments, something like (My clients win awards for best video, etc.... I know it's not exactly this but you get the drift). Tell the client how working with you will benefit them. I think you could be competitive, but you need to position yourself better.  If I wasn't actually intending to give you feedback, I would have just skipped your profile after the first two lines and not seen all that you've done.

Thank you so much for your nice words! I will keep working on my profile 🙂
