How to make Upwork search more effective

Hello,

Been using the Upwork search for a while now and noticed is not very effective in returning what I'm after.

Using boolean operators (even a simple combination of "AND" and "OR) and quotes to get a specific "keyword phrase" don't seem to work and therefore I get a fair amount of unrelevant results.

Could you please share any tips on how to improve my search results?

Thanks,

Antonio

Hi Antonio,

Generally, the search accepts operators like "AND" and "OR" but also Advanced search and filters should help perform more complex operations. Could you please share more information about what you're trying to search for so I can try and replicate?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using the following search keywords combination:

(environmental OR sustainable OR sustainability OR eco OR climate) AND
(copywriter OR copywriting) AND (website OR landing OR "social media" OR
"marketing" OR newsletter OR B2B OR SEO OR campaign)

I'm after copywriting jobs in the environmental/sustainability niche.

If you run this, you will see some obviously irrelevant results. Let me
know if/how I can improve it!

P.S.: another operator which doesn't seem to work is "*". For example, if I
include "sustainab*" I should be able to get results including
both sustainable and sustainability but that doesn't seem to happen (same
thing for copywrit*).

Hope it makes sense,

Thanks,

Antonio

Thanks for providing more information, Antonio. I ran your search and would suggest narrowing it down by using filters by category/subcategory. Like this for example.

I don't think "*" operator is currently supported but I am checking with our product team on that (as well as sharing your feedback.)

Dear Valeria,

Thanks for your help.

The link seems to be broken. Could you please resend it?

Anyway, i'm already filtering by relevant category (i.e. copywriting) but doesn't seem to help much.

Thanks for following up,

Antonio

Sorry about that, Antonio. I corrected the link.

hey Valeria, thanks for correcting the link.

so basically you used the category content&copywriting only. Though I don't think it is helping much.

Thanks,

Antonio
